Vibration/Rattle at 2700 RPM
Vibration/Rattle at 2700 RPM
I have a modified Countryman with a Manic Stage 2 tune, KW suspension, and a single mass JMTC stage 3 clutch. Just yesterday out of nowhere I started getting this vibration I could feel through any of the pedals and could hear when the windows are down that would start at 2700 RPM and get stronger the higher the RPM. It happens under load and even when out of gear and just reved up. It drives just fine with no performance issues even when this is happening. The engine mounts from what I can see appear to be ok.
I have been trying to search around for this issue but ave not found anything like it. But it sounds like something is vibrating really bad enough to actually feel it in the pedals. Anything anyone could help suggest I do or try would be great. I think I am going to have to take it to a local shop to have them listen to it as I am sure its nothing good.
Also, I have been running this tuned setup as it is for about 8 months now without any other issues.

Update 1
Took it to a shop and they found that my clutch was making a lot of noise when they listened to it as well as it was shaking almost to the hard stops on the mounts. Now its looking like I’ll have to replace the clutch as well as possibly have my transmission serviced.
Did you notice this in all gears? I'm having something similar on my 2012 All4, but it's only in 1st and 2nd gear.

My issue ended up being that the springs came loose on the pressure plate and caused it to no longer be balanced and that caused the vibration for me. But the vibration could always be felt and got worse with higher RPMs.
It sounds like you probably have a bad bearing or syncro for your 1st and 2nd gears. That is my guess but don’t take me at my word on that as I am just a at home mechanic.
