A/C cycles off when stopping

SO...13 Countryman S.
When we come to a stop, the a/c stops blowing and the sport mode turns off.

The a/c restarts on its own, but cycles thru all the various vents until it returns to the "max" mode.

The sport mode does not spontaneously reset, but has to be turned back on via the switch. The foglights remain unaffected....

This happens every time that we come to a complete stop, occasionally occurs when braking for a turn...

Any ideas???

That's very interesting, Haven't heard that one yet. I wonder if MarioKart has heard of that?

Have you taken it in to get diagnosed?

OK...still unsolved, but new info It was a quiet day, radio off..as we came to a stop and applied the brakes, we heard a distinct relay "click" from the area of the a/c display panel, accompanied by a brightness change of the display...the a/c again went off for perhaps 5 seconds, then restarted thru the cycles on its own...back to max mode...
PS Sport mode still needs to be reset manually and the a/c does not go out during light braking (for a turn) only on complete stops...PSS my closest MINI dealer is a 100 mile round trip.....I know there is a MINI genius on these boards that has an answer....

If there's a reputable independent BMW/MINI shop near you I'd go to them. MINI Dealers will charge an arm and a leg just to diagnose.

It could be your alternator. There is no reason for your A/C to be affecting your display directly. Because the alternator is used to power the A/C pump it could be running lower voltage with it on, which may be affecting your display and A/C system overall.

Just speculation.

I think you can buy a data logger that plugs in to the obd port. That could tell you exactly what is happening electrically.
