2012 All4 clutch, alternator and HPFP have all already died
Purchased a 2012 manual All4 in May 2012. Clutch failed and was replaced about a year ago.
This week the alternator and high pressure fuel pump failed simultaneously, leaving me coasting with no lights at 65 MPH in rush hour traffic on 93S in Boston. Pretty scary. Grateful I was able to cross three lanes and keep coasting until I reached a breakdown lane without causing an accident or traffic jam.
Now having a long hard think about getting rid of the car altogether and getting something reliable.
These parts should not have failed on such a new car. Yes, everything so far has been covered by warranty, but what happens when the warranty ends?
Has anyone else encountered similar problems? (I know the clutch issue is widespread, but I'm finding less on the HPFP and alternator). At what point is a car a lemon? Are there legal options I should know about if I decide to get rid of the car and it's underwater relative to what I owe on it?
Thanks in advance,
LJ

Any car is susceptible to failures, I had my 2009 rabbit completely die on me in 2011, battery died prematurely, what are the odds of that.
The question you should be asking yourself more importantly.... do you enjoy the car enough to put up with possible failures (that happen to ALL cars, maybe some (ours) a bit more then others).

How many miles? The HPFP seems to fail around 40k. Clutches can last ages, or not. It depends on the driving style. Did it actually fail, or just wear out? An alternator failure is probably equally likely for any car.
