Countryman All4 overheating!! Help!
My fiancee is on her way back to the Denver area from Arizona and is currently outside Albuquerque. Her R60 lost power, wouldn't accelerate, and she got the yellow temperature icon warning (engine too hot), so she pulled off for a while. She tried to go again and it would barely go. No more warning light, but hardly any power.
Any ideas?? Could this be related to the auxiliary water pump recall? Help.

I bet its the thermostat (sensor)! Just for yucks you could show them all the posts from this bulletin board on the issue. I figure you being a moderator it may be easy to find and pull those. See if you can get further up the food chain than I did on it. My SA told me they are just putting in a new (same part #) part and has not heard anything from MINI on containing the issue or revising the part. I really want to know why they are not recalling for this 'walk home' issue.
Yep, that was their diagnosis--thermostat. She and the kids are in a hotel. Service said it should be done by 9:30 or 10 in the morning, and that they'll come pick them up from the hotel and take them to the dealer.
Crossing fingers.

Did MINI pick up the hotel bill?

What year is your fiance's Countryman? I'm taking delivery of my CM4 in a couple of weeks and planning on going on a long roadtrip. Reading this thread makes me pretty nervous. Is the thermostat issue resolved on the new builds?
I have a 2012 CM. I had the same issue. Thermostat sensor went bad twice, and car wouldn't start. Towed into the dealer twice. Apparently the third sensor that was put on a few weeks ago reflects a new part design. We'll see what happens ... so far, so good. Although, honestly, I'm sort of hoping for it to fail again to qualify for the Lemon Law here in Illinois. I only have 5000 miles on my car, and, with this being my first Mini and all, I just didn't expect to have the car have these issues.
