Hope this helps others with hissing aux sound

looks like bmw and mini's are having hissing problems with iphone 4s when the volume is turned up. i am having that problem and just ordered http://www.amazon.com/FiiO-L3-Line-C...6316627&sr=8-1 to fix that problem. the problem seems to be that when connecting an aux cable through the headphone jack on an iphone 4s it messes with the mini's stereo somehow.

here is a long thread on a apple forum with a bunch of people having the same issue and they fixed it with LOD cable mentioned above. i tried my droid phones with the old aux cable and everything is perfect. seems to be a problem with the iphone 4s.https://discussions.apple.com/thread...rt=15&tstart=0

If we use the cable you recommend, we won't be able to charge the phone, correct?

or use any of the Connected features

why MINI needs a cable with both usb and aux is beyond me. But it won't work with just the usb cord. Plenty of other manufacturers are able to do this without the need for the aux cable

If you used the USB/Aux Y cable plus a USB charger plug in the cigarette lighter, would that work to still run a clean audio signal to the aux jack and get a charge off the lighter? Or would the fact that the usb is hooked up cause the phone to think audio has to come out of usb rather than aux?

Yes, I have a USB cigarette lighter charger. I can charge the phone, and listen via the Aux port. Works great for Pandora and (at the same time) my Siri driving directions.

Just confirming that it indeed works! Got my Y cable yesterday and hooked up my iphone 3GS to the AUX plug and a cig USB. Now all I need to do is swap channels. I plan on using this pre-made plug by www.newministuff.com. Its certainly a bit of money compared to swapping pins myself, but since the car is a lease, I figured I'd use an easy plug and play, less invasive solution:

I do not have this problem with my iPhone 5, but my son has this issue using his iPad 2 in the car, even though he is not charging the device via USB at the time. For $9.99, might be worth a try. Thanks,
