Interior light question

Ok, so has anyone had this problem. I go to get in my CMS all4, the other day after work and it had been sitting for about 3 hours. I put the key in and pushed the start button and it starts up but the two front interior lights on the driver and passager side both come on (by the switches on the roof). This is the thrid time this has happened and i have told the dealer and they dont have any idea, no code were thrown but i have no idea what that means. I know i didn't leave them on, postive about that. Anyone have this problem?

Thanks

Same problem and received the same answer from the dealer. I know there is some sequence of events that seems to trigger it, but I haven't been able to recreate the problem.

I'v left the car, and come back to find one on. Now I check before I leave. Has happened a couple of times. Don't know if it goes off in a while. It's a MINI and fun things just happen.

Ok good, now i know that I’ am not crazy, lol. Yeah the dealer tells me that i must have left it on, b/c they have never heard of it. I'm not an idiot i know if i leave the light on in the car. Well i took of video on my phone of it and I'm going to show it to the tech at my local dealer and see what they say. I didn't know if this means there was a problem with the car or what it meant.

yes, this happened to me 2x and it's something to do with remotely unlocking the hatch. this morning i had to open the hatch but, my hands were full so i took my fab key with my fingers and press the hatch unlock, put stuff in, closed the hatch, opened the driver-side door and drove. a block later realized that both lights were on.........need to repeat to confirm....

That’s the way it happened to me, when i went into work i pushed in my mirrors and locked it. When i came out i pulled my pass side mirror out and hit the unlock button once, then the boot opened the boot and threw my bag in and shut it, then pulled my driver mirror out and got in and started the car and the lights came on. So i tried to do it again like that and they didn't come on. So i have no idea what pattern sets it off. My mirrors are not machanical got to push them in manually, but i dont think they have anything to do with it put i could be wrong lol.

I've looked for a pattern and there is no pattern. Over a year it has happened about five times. Most of the time only one light once both were lit.

Same here. Only happens when my wife drives the car. At first I was blaming her. Then I realized there is no way she is accidentally hitting both light switches. My dealer is going to look in to it on Friday when my trim is going to be replaced... I think it's her key fob....

Dealer had no idea. I ran out of time waiting for the trim replacement.... Mystery continues...

Same problem! There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it. I don't use the remote to unlock the trunk and rarely the doors (small town). I get in, start it up, and BOTH lights come on. It is always both of them. I've tried driving with them on for a few minutes and they do not go off on their own. I have to manually switch each off. I told my dealer and they said they'd never heard of it and checked the computer but there's "no problem".
