SD Card in USB

So, it would be nice to have a 32GB (or 64GB for that matter) that I can leave in the USB port loaded with music since my iPhone 4 will eventually dock in the armrest. Anyone tried that big of flash media or an external USB hard drive that could be tucked under the seat for that matter? Will be interested to see if the system will recognize both the phone and the usb in front of the handbrake.

I was only playing around with a 2 gig drive so I am not sure about a much larger one, but the way you can search and play songs is cool, it also displayed the album cover on the Screen.

There's a thread around where people have gotten large drives to work:

My wife has one of these in her Clubman with a 16GB SD Card in it. It only sticks out 3-4mm and works well, though it's a bit slow to initialize when you start the car.

Is there any benefit to getting an SD to USB adapter over just using a high capacity (16GB or 32GB) USB stick?

You can upgrade it later. It was also the smallest option I found.

Promise not to tell? One of several dealerships I went to had a box of last year's mail out welcomes for Convertible owners. They included the thumbdrive loaded with MINI owner info. A couple of them accidently fell into my pocket.

yep, i use 160g external usb hard-drive (western digital) to play music in my countryman. HOWEVER, my 2 other hard-drive(160g maxtor and 250g "salvaged" laptop drive) didn't work.

Love the lit up headlights when using. Expensive, but very cool.

I've been using a 32GB Lexar Echo ZX USB thumb drive. It's fantastic as it holds all my music. Only drawback I've found is that these usb drives are slow to start compared to directly plugging in an ipod or iphone. Still - they're the best alternative if you don't want the clutter of the cable connection on your rail. Here's the link to the Lexar product - http://www.lexar.com/products/lexar-...0?category=214
