Any way to add CarPlay?

Hi everyone!

I have a 2012 R60 NT. Manual transmission, premium sound system, built in CCC navigation system.

Does anyone know a good way to add car play?
Would I need to change the stock radio/nav to do it?
Or is there some cheat code (not really a code) thingy that I can install to make magic happen?

I know it sounds stupid, but better to ask the stupid things before I do the stupider things.

Right here:

You should have the CiC unit. CCC was the older unit pre 2011, unless you are a rare type on the boarder years which i doubt.

No problem, glad to help. Its super confusing on these from MINI and glad to help and offer it.

Bremmen Parts Carplay

Bremmen Parts Carplay is going on my R58 JCW soon also as Factory MINI Connected ( I have factory optioned with my Navigation display $$$$) is pretty much dead till 2019 models and the app from MINI will not update. They killed it for 2011-2018 MINI models. None of the apps work and the App crashes when hooked to the Y Cable that is used or the snap in adapter in the center console. You can see the Icon in the top right " MINI Connected" that is no longer supported by MINI.

All dead for the Gen 2 MINIs and some Gen 3 MINIs till 2018 :(

Snap in adapter with MINI Connected / APP

Is there any aftermarket radio to replace the stock navigation CiC enabled one?
it definitely has not aged well.

For stock to stock navigation display, nope. Maybe never will as not that many people paid up for Navigation or the MINI connected only screen. We have something in development for Non Navi or Non MINI Connected screen cars to a screen with carplay. At least we have the carplay piggyback bremmen parts for screen cars.

The Navigation Screen with traffic flow for MINI factory screen on 2011-2015 cars is much better then the period Range Rover/ VW/ Audi/Porsche navigations screens. Most displays at the time did not have a clean Map or traffic flow option. So I do give credit them for that. So 30-40K MINIs were better then Range Rovers in the 100K-200K price range for the infotainment.
