Wife’s new Countryman, what a fun car!

My wife has been driving the “family” car for quite a few years. Ford Expeditions and then a Flex. Now our girls are in College, and we no longer need a hauler. Not sure quite how it happened, but picked up a new Countryman for her yesterday.

As it turns out, it seemed like a pretty good time to be buying. There is $1500 customer cash and a $1000.00 test drive rebate from Mini. Got another $2000 cash from the dealer, and got him to throw in Bonnet and Boot stripes (going on next week), Cooper S floor mats, Cooper S rear boot mat, short antenna, and some other Mini goodies.

We only just picked up the car last night. I must say, this car is loads of fun. I put it through some paces last night, and it really is a blast to drive. My wife has had a smile on her face all weekend, which I think is the effect this car has on people.

Here it is.

My co-pilot ditched her '02 Detroit iron last year for an interweb spec'd out CM of her very own. I must say it's almost as much fun to drive as my '06 R52. Sport mode helps a lot.
Nothin' like having a contented wife no matter the source.

Congratulations on moving on from people haulers, to a fun set of wheels.

My wife loves driving her Countryman too. I also enjoy being behind the wheel.

Since we got the Countryman, she is almost never in my truck.

Thanks for the replies above.

After just a few days of ownership,my wife commented to me yesterday that she is having way more fun than a person should have just driving around. And to my surprise, she flips on sport mode every time.

Coming from more of a sedate people hauler, she's also changed her driving habits. I'm not saying she drives it like she just stole it......but she is a completely different person behind the wheel.

And, yes, a contented wife is a very good thing! Strange, I don't ever recall being a passenger when we drove together, but now I am.

I don't think my wife uses sport mode, though she does appreciate the power the S puts out.

When we go out together, I'm the driver. Sometimes when I turn on sport mode, and drive in a manner that is more enthusiastic than she wants at the time, she reaches over turns off sport mode. LOL

Wife's smile got a little wider today. Had the bonnet and boot stripes put on.

I know it's a love 'em or hate 'em thing, but put me in the camp that a Mini needs stripes. To me, adds just a that little extra bit of sportiness, and brings out the Mini character.

Actually I think your car looks better with the stripes.

I'm sure you meant to say "her" car. Just in case she reads this I better clarify. She's a little more possessive now than she was with her Flex.

But yes, I agree, the stripes bring out a certain something. Might even add some rocker stripes sometime.....that is with her permission of course.

Kudos on the purchase. I know where you're coming from regarding wives and possessiveness. When I bought a Cooper S convertible for us to "share," it quickly became my wife's "spirit animal."

Of course, I did solve my problem by buying myself a Cooper S hardtop so, in the end, it's all good.

BTW - the stripes look great.

Great looking car, man. We've had ours for 2 years, and would both have one if we were past the multiple teens + 100 pound dog stage. After having this for a while, I wanted an SUV that was equally fun to drive; those don't come easy...

Funny you should say that, because the thought has crossed my mind. I wonder how many multiple Mini families are out there???

An '06 Cooper S and a '13 Countryman S All4 in this family.

A big ol' roof box helps a lot with cargo issues.

Count us in. '07 Cooper S convertible and '15 Cooper S hardtop.
I wonder if I can replace my Pathfinder with a Clubman and a car-top carrier?
Not sure if you can tow with a Clubman...just a small trailer is all I need to pull.

Kudos to the multi Mini families above. Very cool.

I'm going to mull this over.

By the way, wife still has not stopped smiling. Coming from a land barge like the Flex, the Countryman is a whole new animal. It seems she's running "errands" a lot more often. Can't say I blame her.

I like "Darth". Of course, this comes from a guy whose last 7 cars have been black! Definitely changes the whole vibe of the car.

Of course, after trying to keep those last 7 cars clean, I know what you are up against. Better invest in a good package of car washes.
