I checked at the BMW dealer. BMW's have four of "Jack Pad - Under Car Support Pad for Lifting Car" (Part # 517 170 39760) permanently mounted on the four jack points on the cars.

So do we need to do the same for the our Countryman's? I am referring to item 4 shown in the below diagram, which is the "Jack Pad - Under Car Support Pad for Lifting Car" (Part # 517 170 39760); not the "JWC Extension Block" (Part # 517 171 88454) which is item 5 in that diagram.

If Mini does not preinstall the Jack Pads on the Countryman, how do they expect you to use the provided jack?

Also what is the Part # for the "male tab for the jack itself" or "plate" that goes on the jack?

 

I installed the four jack pads. Install, is really too of a strong word-since you simply remove the rubber plug from the Mini frame and insert the jack pad and press the center plug to secure. Those are meant to be used with a floor jack. As for the jacking point adapter, those are not a Mini part, rather I ordered mine from Outmotoring but they are available elsewhere as well.


I also read on a thread that for a couple of bucks, you can simply buy a hockey puck and use that on the jack stand without the jack pads.

 

I am new to MINIs and the 2013 R60 I bought came with no spare, jack, lug wrench, nothing. I guess MINI feels the run flats are supposed to eliminate their necessity. This thinking was a shock to me as the tools provided with my SIL's Volkswagen(German like BMW) were pretty sweet.

Now that I have added jackpads so that I can rotate my own tires, I thought I would add some pictures to illustrate TJANK's post.

Sideview - the pads only protrude below the lower cladding about 1/2 to 3/4 inch.

 

this may be a dumb question but, why not just position the jack and jack it up.
why do i need jack pads?

 

Seen some people do this easy mod for the CM. Funny the plugs are there, like it was designed then changed to the seam lift.

TJANK - how close do they come with the JCW aero side skirts.

 

For my specific situation:
"The jack" - Mini provided me none. The slot on the pinch weld scissor lift from my other car is not deep enough and deforms the lip of the pinch weld slightly. My remaining lift option is the standard hydraulic jack(not bottle) I have. For it, I can't always get all the way in to a structural point due to other cars being close by and preventing handle pumping. My last car with a similar crinkle undercoating slipped on the lift pad when positioned just inside the pinch weld and the driver floorboard got dented in. So now with the jack pad, I have a place where I can raise the vehicle without deforming the pinch weld, marring the undercoating or contacting the side cladding.

 

hi, i have jcw kit on my car. do i need the jack pad and the jcw extension block? with the jcw kit, the jack point is below the kit. can i also get the correct part#'s for both? any recommendation for a jack aside from the OEM. my car didnt come with jack. thanks.

 

rdd337. You can get 4 of the jack pads that VColi mentioned(and you quoted) and 1 of the JCW extensipn blocks. The jack pads are supposed to permanently mounted. I believe the extension block slips over the affixed jack pad and you would move it to whichever jack pad you plan to lift the car with. ECStuning has pretty decent pricing on the jack pads. Googling the the extension block part number should find a source for the JCW block.

As far as a jack recommendation, what all do you plan to use the jack to do and where do you plan on keeping and using the jack ?

 

I just need the jack when traveling in case I will have a flat tire or something. I bought the compact spare tire and also the adapter from TDN. I need a compact so that it will fit under the flat load floor in the trunk. Thanks.

 

Just installed them on my Countryman S with JCW aero side skirts. They fit perfectly and are flush with the side skirts since the JCW aero side skirts hang a little lower.

 

you might not even want to get the jackpads then. I suspect a standard scissor jack would be what you want. If you get one with the slot for a pinch weld you can use the tab you see just inboard of the jackpad in my pictures above. If you get one with just a flat pad, you might put the jackpads on and use them to lift the car. I just looked at some pretty decent 12V scissor jack kits. If I didn't already have a jack, I would get one of those just to make it even less stressful to change a flat. Some of the kits even include some sort of electric impact wrench to use on the lug nuts. Might consider those

 

So then the JCW GP 1 extension might be needed , just one of couse, it helps with lower side skirts?

ok guys there's one mini close to my work so i drop by during lunch break to check how much are the jack pads using the part# on this thread. so the salesperson in parts dept told me its $39.95/each and ask for my year model of my car. so i told him its for 2015 countryman s w/ JCW exterior package. so he search on his computer and told me there is no jack pad for my car. and went to talk to a mechanic in their shop to confirm and ask if the part# i gave him will work in my car, and the mechanic said no. you would think they will be happy to sell it to me specially for the price they charge for it. they refuse to sell it to me and said my car does not need it. of course even they sell it to me I would not buy it since it is much cheaper online.

 

It's because it doesn't come up on the parts diagram for Countryman so they don't know that it will fit, but it does. Just order the part with the part numbers listed above and you'll be fine. Really easy to install.

If the rubber and jcw sideskirt are almost the same height and almost right next to each other, I'm curious if you bring your car to a tire shop and they will lift your 4 wheels at the same they might hit your plastic sidekirt if they want to put the rubbers in the middle of their lifting point unless they have the 4 jcw block adapter for their lift. I hope I make sense. Just want to make sure before ordering since I always bring my cars to discount tire store for tire balance and rotation. Thanks.

 

I understand your concern. I don't think there should be an issue since they have lifted my car before w/o the pads installed, they just used the thin metal jack points. Either way, you should be fine but you can buy 4 adapters if you like. I personally don't see a reason to. With the other jacks, it make sense since they have a circular shape as apposed to what Discount Tire and other tire shops usually have rectangular pads for the lifts. I too take my car to get rotated and balanced at Discount Tire.
