R60 18000 mile service
18000 mile service
So took my car in last week for an oil change because my car was at 800 miles till due...
mini service had it for three days and didn't do an oil change but instead...flushed the brakes
I asked why they didn't do it since I've only had one oil change and the intervals are every 9000 miles and I'm at 18000...tech said its not due for an oil change
I told him its not due for a brake flush, manual says every two years...bought the car july 2011...he replied that the 800 miles indicated that the brakes needed flushed...
I'm thinking they're trying to get out of an oil change...any thoughts people?

Have you had the MINI in for some service that would have given them an opportunity to flash the software to include the new shorter intervals?
Notwithstanding the above question, the brake fluid flush is time based, so I'm not sure why it would indicate 800 miles and that would be their basis/explanation for doing a brake fluid flush. It is too bad you didn't check which specific service the OBC thought was due in 800 miles before taking it in.

If I understand the post correctly, the car went 18,000 miles and no oil change was performed. Now the dealer resets the service indicator so your next service is in 9,000 miles or 27,000 miles on the clock before the first oil change.
They should have changed the oil when you took it in, and also the oil change is either mile based or time based. They are supposed to change the oil at one year mark, regardless of miles.

That is indicating 9,000 miles until the next service. That may or may not be an oil change - there are several services the OBC is tracking.
That makes sense, thank you...ill do my oil change myself because once a year is crazy for a turbo car

My wife's old mini...it indicated front brakes when it needed it and didn't have anything to do with the regular countdown you see when you first start the car. Am I missing something?
That would be my cue to change dealers, assuming there are more than 1 in your city/town. If not, I'd be talking with the service manager and then the dealership manager if required.
my dealer told me the new current oil/filter change interval has now been lowered to 8,000 miles and that all minis they service get set to 8,000 miles/1 year until next oil/filter change
my 03/2012 build cms all4 said 10,000 miles on the window sticker, but the OBC said 9,000 miles ... when i questioned the difference, i was told that the 10k had been reduced to 9k, but the window stickers were "a little behind"
took my dad's 09/2011 build cms all4 in for the coolant sensor fix + annual oil/filter change the last week of september and it came out showing 8k/1year til next change
since i think even 8k is to long, i have revised my oil/filter change interval to 4k and will alternate with the dealer, i nwill do one then they will do one
