Cool Annnnnnd the waiting begins...

Ordered my CMS this weekend. My husband thinks it'll be around March when we get to pick her up. I hope he's right and I'm glad February is a short month!

Call me crazy, but I've been looking at the Owner's Manual online and reading up on everything. But of course when I'm actually in my Mini, I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time playing with the controls and figuring things out. I'm already playing with the Mini Connected app and love it so far!

Can't wait to have my Surf Blue!

Thanks Mojito!

And drsimmons, I've been on the site for a couple months now. When I knew we might be ordering, I logged on to do some research.
This site has been great for getting to know the CM and the many Mini owners! Sounds like a great community to be part of! I'd love to start a Mini Motoring group in Texas!

Did you check with the dealership? We have the Sunshine Mini Club which breaks into groups from NW Florida to S Florida. I happen to be around Gulf Shores, Al. It is alot of fun when you get 20-30 Mini's together for an outing.
Feb 12 we're meeting for a rally, than we're taking a Ferry from Dauphin Island, Al to Fort Morgan(Gulf Shores) Al. Then to eat.
Lots of good info exchanged and alot of nice folks.
Forgot to mention, alot of the dealerships sponsor clubs. Also, put a post out on General Mini Talk and ask who in your area has a club established.
I know I've seen lots of posts from Texans on here.
Check ours out at www.sunshinemini.org
The one I belong to is the Panhandle division.

Enjoy

That sounds like a lot of fun!! I posted something on the General Mini page about a Texas motoring group.

Thanks for the info!

Congrats.

My wife ordered a CMS last week as well.

Sometime in March seems a safe bet for delivery, but these things always seem to take a little extra time.

So where did you end up ordering your car?

And BTW there are two active MINI groups in the Houston area already. The Houston MINI Motoring Society (hmms.org) is the more traditional, with monthly meetings, some charity related functions, and other stuff. The other group is called MINI Fundrives (minifundrives.com, but most of their communications is via their Facebook page), and they do....well fun drives. Less formal, just meet up regularly either locally, or go somewhere like the Hill Country, or the casinos in LA.

JEH, congrats to your wife! Maybe we'll get our Mini's around the same time!

mtbscott, we ended up ordering our Mini from Mini of Plano, Sewell, I think is the name. Jonathan was really nice and willing to help us out. He wanted our sale more than Houston!
I have checked out one of the groups in Houston. I will check out the ones you listed as well though. They sound fun!
Oddly enough I'm from the hill country so I'll def be driving out that way to see family anyway. There are some fun roads out that way. But not the best to be driving during hunting season.

Bully for you going out of town to buy. Sad that with three dealerships (that are all owned by different dealer groups) that not one of them would give you a deal you'd both be happy with. I've gone out of town to buy a car before when it was warranted and would not hesitate again if need be.

Yeah, it was a little ridiculous. We got a deal from our Costco auto guy, who sent it to El Paso Mini; El Paso was more than willing to give us the deal, but we'd have to drive across Texas or have them deliver it here but that would have been an extra $600. So we went back to Houston (all three dealerships) and not a single one was willing to match the El Paso price. So we talked to Mini of Plano (we both have family there), and they were more than willing and super nice. And the winner is!
Seemed like the Houston dealers just weren't taking us seriously. We both look younger than we are, but still a sale is a sale... Do you want our money or not?!

We're very happy with the service we've gotten from Jonathan at Mini of Plano.

It can be nerve wracking. I ordered 5/4 and had to wait for a 2012 due to Nav and auto transmission delays, so anything less than four months is a cakewalk to me!

Though, it's probably better you got a 2012, because of the recall!

MiniMe is scheduled for production but I don't have a date yet.

We ordered our Countryman exactly two weekends before you did. It is in production now with a scheduled completion date of February 1st. Hopefully its only a two or three more weeks after that before we get ours too.

I am so excited! This will be my second car and first car to have ever ordered. I'm just pumped to have a car made to my liking and I can completely call mine.

When did your car start production?

So I'm driving my Pontiac Sunfire until I get my CMS. And so many times in my travels, I'm thinking, "That would have been the perfect situation for my Countryman!" or "If only I had the power, I could overtaken that car..."

Can't wait til it gets here!

I'll give you more reason to get excited.
The 12th our club is having a 'CRAM THE FERRY' rally. We're all meeting at a specific location, doing about a 2 hour rally over twisty back roads, than stop for lunch. Over the long tall bridge to Dauphin Island where we'll all pack onto a Ferry. The ferry will take us to Fort Morgan (Gulf Shores,Al). About a 40 min ride. Then another rally in GS where we'll probably begin to break off. Can't wait.

You'll really enjoy it when it comes.

There is a Mini Motoring group in SA. When I lived there, I was part of it. Now I'm on the East Coast waiting for my new Mini! Congrats and welcome to the club.

I'm a bit far from San Antonio, but I think there are clubs in both Dallas and Austin that I might look into.

In the meantime, I called AskMini today and got an estimated completion date of February 7th! Sooo excited!

Kosmo, I love your badge!
Oh great, I'm loving finding those who have ordered around the same time as me. Maybe we'll get our cars on the same boat.
