The problem is the recall is "supposedly" only required up to January 2011 builds. alanwells vehicle was built in March 2011 (around the same time mine was built) I'll bet MINI wanting to 'destructively test' the car means they don't want to admit the problem extends past January builds. I would love to see the actual writeup, but I bet MINI keeps it to themselves.

This is very interesting, I'm hoping to hear how it works out for you. What the heck is "destructive testing" anyways?

I wonder if this problem is related to the recall?
