NM Power Module Issue

Hi All,

Took the plunge and bought a NM Power Module, for my 2012 Countryman ALL4 S (R60) directly from NM Engineering, first start after fitment (couple of hours ago) I have a check engine light, I drove the car for about 25 miles in order that the ECU could recognise it had more boost but the car is like a slug, won't rev past 3500 in 6th gear and just unresponsive in any gear. I returned to standard set up and the car is back to it's normal sprightly self but the CEL light is still on - any help / advice much appreciated.

I have Ultra 94 gas (102 RON) available so I went straight to the high setting.

You might try it on the low setting. I ran one on my F56 for two years without a problem. It's a different part from the 2nd Gen though. You can always give Jerry at NM a call.

Many of those devices require letting the car power down. Hood/doors open for 10 minutes or so and key out of the area. That can cause issues if you didn't do that, although quickly looking at the install directions doesn't show that. You could also have a faulty unit or didn't fully seat the connector. Do you have an OBD reader to look at the engine fault codes?

Hi MtM, instructions require engine off for 30 mins before fitment, that was observed (at least 30 mins), I don't have an OBD but a neighbor has so I'll look at the codes tomorrow.

CEL cleared itself, will try again tonight on lower settings, not happy though if that's all I can expect and will probably return it, no response from NM engineering as yet.

I was so looking forward to the improvements, quite disappointed that it's not as advertised (so far).

Have you run your tank clean with the Ultra 94 before you set it to high? NM has been good to me-just replaced harness plug out of warranty-no charge.

I am such a putz, just re-checked the install and believe it or not it is possible to install the boost sensor flying lead upside down, fixed and oh my, what a transformation. My next upgrade is going to be adult size incontinence pants as I just about managed to not wet myself laughing, I can't guarantee that I'll stay dry much longer, grin factor well and truly restored.

Hats off to NM and their wicked little module.

At least you get a gold star for the use of the word "putz". I remember meeting a guy who's last name was putz, hard to keep a straight face when first talking to him. And yes he was.

Glad you are running well! Enjoy.

To be honest my main reason to purchase was to try and realise some efficiency improvements, I regularly get 43mpg on my commute, this morning I averaged 48mpg :-), no change in driving style/speed etc.

I don't normally toss out insults. You don't seem to be offended but I'll apologize anyway.
