Drivetrain Oxspeed BOV spring
Got mine today. I'm not sure how any of you got in there to get the BOV out? On my 2012 CM S there is a hard coolant, or oil return line running right over the top of it. I can't get my allen sockets or even an allen wrench on all three screws.
With a large straight blade screwdriver you can can pry that line to either side to access allen screws. It moves pretty easily and doesn't need alot of pressure to move it. Had to do it on mine also to access lower rear allen screw.
Thanks, I'll let it cool off a little more and give that a whirl.
Got mine today as well. I'll probably give it a shot this weekend, if I can wait that long.
Edit: Not too impressed with the packaging. They were just taped to a letter inside an envelope that looked like it had a rough time through the mail sorter at the post office. I ordered 2 springs and they don't look identical by a long shot.

Not a stupid question... undo clamp at turbo (cool of course) and pry towards driver headlamp. You might use a long staright blade screwdriver to help get started.

Got mine today and installed it. It was a pain In the **** to get to. I removed the air tube, the coolant tank and then unbolted the mount we're the metal line comes down. Judging by the pics on the alta install PDF, that coolant line comes down further in the r60. It took some finessing but I was able to maneuver the bov out from behind that line and get my spring installed.
Impressions: the seeing does seem to help get the car moving smoother from a standstill. I don't necessarily feel anymore power, I just feel like the car doesn't try to fall on it's face anymore. I took just a short drive. So we will see how it works over the next few days.

Got mine done too. Yeah the R60 may give some less skilled wrenchers a fun time. I consider myself skilled at about a 3.5 out of 5 when it comes to "take this off and put this back on". This wasn't THAT easy on the R60.
I would say there is a huge improvement in driving my 6 speed. Mostly when the air conditioner is on. However I did notice some improvements all around.
I think it will had miles to my clutch. I came from and 6 speed R55 S, and this set-up now feels very close to that. When I first got the R60 I stalled it 5 or 6 times before "re-learning" the clutch. Which was basically ride the crap out of it. I felt like a teenager learning to drive a clutch again. This mod solved one of my hang-ups with my R60.
Thanks for posting about it.

I'll be calling Jerry @nm tomorrow...need that from him now, along with exhaust.
Finally!! I just finished install after 7 hours... It's all due to the annoying part of taking those three allen screws out with the wrong tools, there weren't any hardware stores open at 1:30 am
Took Kowalski for a test drive and he feels better than normal, with the bogging from the A/C gone!
This was a cheap mod but if you don't have the correct tools like me it can be a very long and painful one... But overall worth it.
Thanks to everyone who helped me in this process, I couldn't have done it without y'all!

So after a few days of driving Pierce with the new spring I have to say I really impressed. The car is sooo much easier to putt around in. I find myself not having to concentrate as much when leavIng stoplights with the new spring. I have been driving manual cars every since I was 11 and have always har an issue with the take offs on the car. This makes it a load easier! I stick by my statement of saying I really don't notice more power, but I certainly notice how much easier the car takes off from a standstill. I highly recommend the $15 spring. Most bang for the buck I have spent on a mod. Replacing my run flats hold a strong second place.
Does anyone have an idea of what peak boost pressures we see in the Countryman S? I ask because the diverter valve (is it really a BOV?) is of a diaphragm design which I would question. I'd be interested in peak pressures, or logs of the pressure building and waste gate actuation before/after spring installation.
I did mine today, and it was a real pain in the butt. I wouldn't say that the spring is stiffer, so much as it is longer (that's what she said). I didn't really notice any difference in my quick run around the block, but I'll give it a few days. I haven't driven the car all day, and it's probably more noticeable after significant heat-soak.
Tip for anyone attempting it in the future: a 5mm ball-end allen wrench is your friend. Getting a normal allen wrench in there is next to impossible.

I received my second spring (in perfect shape this time) and put it in this AM. I can't say I notice all that much difference! The only thing that seemed a little different was after shifting there seemed to be more power as soon as I stepped back on the go pedal.
I'm noticing some mixed results with this "upgraded spring". I can only imagine that the weak spot in this dv design is the diaphragm rather than the spring's holding power. VW went to a piston style DV in 2009 on their 2.0 turbo.

I wonder if BMW groupe will do the same.
