R59 Going from 195/55/16 RF to 205/55/16
Going from 195/55/16 RF to 205/55/16
My Bridgestone Driveguards are worn. While I like the performance of those tires compared to other RF tires I have had, I won't be using the Driveguards anymore. First of all, Bridgestone no longer supplies them in the 195 width, and second, our road conditions make RF tires a rather harsh proposition. I would like to use a high-performance A/S tire that I am well familiar with: The Continental DWS 06 Plus. Alas, it does not come in 195 with either but only in 205 and up.
If I replace the OE 195/55/16 with 205/55/16, the new tire will have a 5.1% higher sidewall. At 60mph the speedometer will theoretically be underreporting by 1.06 mph. This won't be a problem because the speedometer is actually overreporting by more than that amount and will still be underreporting a little.
Has anybody here put 205/55/16 on their R59 instead of 195/55/16 tires and were there any issues with the tires rubbing or not being able to turn in all the way? I would not expect any such problem.
