Don't know what kind of grease MINI recommends.
ive used spray ptfe, seems to have solved a temporary sticking issue ( one afternoon of bonging was enough )

Chosen purely on the basis it worked well on my 1st gen sunroof

Need help here too!

So we're taking a long drive from Pittsburgh to Boynton Beach Florida and the Mini is having issues. A bit stressful. So the spoiler comes up but it seems there's an issue and the ding dong won't stop. We had to driver 2.5Hrs with to her hôtel 2/3 of the way. I don't know how to make it stop!!! So stressful. I took the scanner with us. It says JBE active rear spoiler, end position hall effect sensor faulty. A886/not present.
I don't known what we'll do. An other 4
5 hr drive.

A stop gap would be to lower the volume for the ding dong and turn up the stereo volume.
You may have to stop at a dealer on the way.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply!

Funny thing however they were so smart at mini that when you increase the volume of the radio it increases the volume of the chime... lol

Well luck was not on our side.. things go way worse. We were two and a half hour away from St Augustine on our drive from Pittsburgh, PA to Boynton Beach FL and had to support 2.5 hours of the chime we arrived at our stop tired and stressed. The next day I unplugged the battery and reconnected it thinking it could help reset things. Next thing you know we got all kinds of faults. No turn signal, no stop light, windows or soft top not working, ABS fault. the list goes on. We were 45 minutes away south of Jacksonville, FL. the closest mini shop. So we had to say goodbye to the car to be towed in Jacksonville. After that was the struggle to find a rental from St Augustine since tow truck would not get anyone on board with Covid.
They called us back the next day and need some module to be replaced that is under MINI extended warranty. Of course the part is on back order from Germany.
So we have to wait 3-4 more days to 1 find out if they can get the part. and 2 so they can diagnose the car :(

Good we're in Florida for 3 weeks... though 4 hours away from Jackson Ville...

Only thing i can think of is to replace the whole unit. Or remove it and get this while you can.

I was waiting for this to go on sale so I could grab one to have on hand for if/when my spoiler stuck up, but it never dropped in price and my spoiler never stuck, and now I've sold the car I don't need one.
