R59 parts removal help and advice

I thought I'd start this thread to get help on removing exterior or interior parts for the R59. And if someone did some "mod" and learned some tips on how to remove specific parts feel free to participate

Here is one for you guys:

Does someone know if it is possible, and how, to remove the cap behind the seats that is not used on the automatic soft top that was initially used for the latch of the manual top. It's the cap that is between the two roll over protection bars?

I'll be waiting here with bated breath for the answer to this question. I so want to remove that cap for my next mod. Hopefully someone will chime in and rescue us, TG.

Well I've tried again to see if I could remove the fake soft top cap on semi automated top . . . to no avail
It seems it is a separate part though, but I can't quite figure out how it is retained...

By the way, does anyone know what the part #11 or 12 is used for.
I remove the little cap (#12) and there's a screw deep down a well like shape but it looks like this would be used for some accessory. Any ideas?

I was hoping that you would be claiming success TG. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Here's how I see it from the diagram you provided. It appears that you would be able to get to the part #24 if you remove #14. Then you would have access through #17 to undo #24 from the backside. I tried giving a little test tug on #14 but since I was uncertain to the hardware (#16) I didn't want to pop the darn thing off and possibly break the clips, if it has clips. We need some assistance from someone who's torn this section apart once or twice. HELP!

The cap 12 lets you access screws to let you remove parts 10 and 11. I took them off to pull up the carpet when running wires for my Integral Audio install.

Yes I could see that but what intrigues me is that the well shape around the screw is very specific that it looks like it is meant for some accessory unknown to me
It's not a simple tampered wall. It has a long notch along side.
I wish I could explain it better. I'll take a picture later...

You'll find this photo interesting. I found it on the MINIUSA.com site for the Roadster. The photo was shown in the Gallery in the middle of the page and is seen in two separate photos for the Roadster. It's the fake top release button in chrome. Where is that part number?

It's not fake. That's the release switch found on Roadsters with manual tops; exactly like what I have on my 2012.

Yea, some got the manual release, then i think in 2013 you could get the option for power.

Sorry, dongood, it is fake. If you review my post, the photo supplied was found on the MINIUSA.com site under the 2015 Roadster Build. It was not a photo from the 2012, which were manual tops with chrome releases.

You're right, 2013 was the first year with the power top and ugly black fake release button. I hate it!

I think it's more likely Mini simply used old imagery on the website. After all the R59 didn't really change from 2012 through today.

Edit:

ECS posted I believe 2 separate parts. One for the fake black cover and the second for the chrome lock release.

You might be able to use the chrome part when there is no lock.

Assuming we find out how to remove it in the first place

First, I hope that MINI/BMW isn't so stupid that they would place two photos front and center on the Roadster's detail gallery at MINIUSA.com. Second, I don't understand why they just didn't leave the part in chrome then this thread would be completely unnecessary.

Here was the other photo showing an example of the chrome release button on the Roadster's detail gallery.

I'll take a look at what ECS posted again, thanks, dongood.

This part is so ugly, TG., I don't care. I'm just going to chisel it out.

Here are both:

This requires the #15 panel to have that hole. 51472758842

The panel that just all one piece #15 and has a black cover 54347327298 , because I don't see a blank cover only part for #24
