Roadster Spoiler Rusting?

Noticed this when washing it a couple days ago. It seem's to me the spoiler is beginning to rust at the joints that affix it to the rest of the car. (both sides)

I'm going to take it to the dealer this week and see what the say but just wanted to give a heads up to everyone!

Thank for the heads-up...something to keep an eye out for.

Is your MINI a daily driver and does it live in a garage? I'm wondering how much those brutal Canadian winters contributed to your decay.

I have a 2012 R59S with 16,000 miles and there isn't a hint of rust in the area you show. As the OP said; rough Canadian winters maybe. Do they use a lot of salt on the roads in your area? Good luck with dealer help. We'll be interested in what the dealer says.

I believe we have a 6 year warranty against any rust problems.

Wow that's brutal. That really looks like it's been salted. "Always wash under your flaps" seems to be a good rule of thumb for cars as well as people ;-)

I might get a bit of grease on there just to be sure though.

That's brutal

Caused by salt or not, that kind of stinks after only one year!
I'd say to everyone, it's time to put grease regularly on these joints it seems . . . shame really . . .
