R59 What Do You Think About The ROADSTER
What Do You Think About The ROADSTER
I have had my roadster for one week today and I just can't get over how much I LOVE this vehicle. I only have around 400 miles so far but every time I climb in, I just start to grin
.
I can only imagine how fun she is going to be after the break in period, because she is a BLAST to drive already.
Please leave your thoughts about Your Roadster!
Thanks.

If I didn't love the red-headed cousin so much, the Roadster would be my next obsession. But I have always had a thing for redheads so the decision will be easy. The JCW Coupe has my full affections.
Must admit though, I have been sneaking some lustful peaks at some brunettes in the Roadster forum of late.

I'm probably not very objective, having only 24 hours of ownership.
Initial thoughts and observations:
- The visibility with the top up is much better than I had anticipated
- The top is superbly manufactured...not a speck of wind noise or air leakage when it's up, even driving into a brisk headwind on the highway
- The clutch is a bit stiffer and less forgiving than in my '11 MCS, but not prohibitively so -- I'm sure I'll get used to it
- The aesthetics of the N12 bonnet combined with the Aero trim are both understated and stunningly beautiful, better than what I'd hoped for
I'll share more when and if I transition out of the stupid grin stage.

I drove mine to work today for the first time. It's fun, especially today when the planets aligned and I was able to put the top down. (Wasn't expecting to be able to do that til next June!).
The clutch is the only real issue. It's such a shift (ha) from my truck and it's taking me a bit to get used to it. (It's hard to look cool when I stall at a stoplight :-/.
I love the pickup. My truck struggled a little getting up some hills on my normal drive. So not an issue now! The steering wheel is stiffer (but not less responsive). The non-HK stereo is fine when the top is up but I'm going to look at speaker options next spring when top down driving will (hopefully) be more frequent.
Hydroplaning has been an issue for my truck (different tires may take care of this) but so far, the Roadster rolls right through it.
My commute includes a dark rural road with plenty of deer and other critters to dodge. I'm looking forward to testing the xenon headlights (and the fog lights) this evening.
Overall, two thumbs up! And, so far, no midlife crisis jokes. Only a few compliments and one "Are you selling your truck? No? Dammit!"
