Roadster Changes for 2013

Hello all,

I'm in the exploratory phase of purchasing a Mini Roadster and after some research I visited a dealer and had a brief test drive (what a blast!).

What I heard was that to have one custom built would likely mean waiting until the 2013 model was available, and that would be September (one production slot for 2012 is probably still available...). In addition I heard several changes would be made, resulting in an increase in @ $1250:

- Semi automatic top would be standard
- USB/Bluetooth would be standard
- Windscreen would be standard

a couple of colors would be discontinued, and as another post indicated I think that Reef Blue would be available (it's on the configurator now but 2012 options are unchanged)

No mechanical changes were indicated.

I also read on another post that Sirius Radio would be optional for (all?) Minis.

Anyone else heard any information on model changes? Any opinions on waiting until 2013 or pursuing a 2012 if available?

The options that come standard are probably ones I would get, but am a little uncomfortable as this was just a conversation with the Dealer rep. and wondering if there would be other changes I would not like...

Thanks in advance for any comments!

Sirius optional? AAAAAAHHHHHHH Why didn't they have that when I got mine so I wouldn't have that ugly antenna on Elphie's backside :-(

Blah, semi-auto top standard? Come on; ditch the electronics and keep it a true full manual soft top.
Buy the R57 if you can't muster the arm strength to open / close the top.

In 2013 all JCW models will have auto tranny option, and will have the newly designed engine (currently in the S models). But for the other models probably not much different.

I can do it just fine, my wife can't (especially with the screen in).....and I prefer to let her put the top down while I drive . Why the hate on the semi-auto? Sheesh.......why not only have crank windows since that's more like an original mini too.

Just cause you don't like it doesn't mean you have to bash those that choose it.

Believe me, if it was available, I'd pay for that option.

Correct, I shouldn't bash it.
However, was hoping that the 'roadster' would stay like such with little excess "fluff" and less gizmos, and more driver-centered.

Its nice having choices as long as you aren't forced to take them...

I wish they would add some real engine gages and make the engine 240 horsepower please!

I understand that....but with the pricing on the roadster, they're trying to really make it a premium model more than a more raw experience. Heck, mine was 43K and doesn't even have leather!!! LOL

Anybody else heard similar feedback on 2013 changes

Just curious - while the individual I spoke with seemed well informed and credible - has anyone else out there had any communication with Mini representatives who can share what they heard as far as changes for 2013?

Cheers

Here is a good read that it JCW specific. Engine will be more efficient, new auto trans, and Brake Energy Regeneration.
