R59 Roadster vs BMW 1 series convert?
Roadster vs BMW 1 series convert?
Just curious- since a highly optioned roadster is in the same price range as a bmw 128i convertible- did any of you cross shop the bmw? I know that they are totally different cars, but the bmw is pretty nice.
My daughter's 135i has been in my garage for the last four months and was a competitor against the Roadster. We went with the Roadster primarily for two reasons. First was price as a new 1 series convertible with all the options we want would be about 50Kish. Our fully loaded Roadster was only 35ish. We didn't see 15K worth of "betterness".
The second factor was fun factor. We picked the Mini as we like the looks and love the quirkiness of the Mini.
Oh, a third bonus is the better fuel mileage of the Mini, but that wasn't a primary factor when we chose the Roadster. As gas prices keep climbing I am liking it more though....
You can't go wrong with either one though as they are both great cars. I love driving my daughter's car.

I was getting another MINI, no matter what! I started looking at the Countryman last year, then the Coupe, and ended up ordering a Roadster. The 1 series is nice, I wish they would bring the hatchback versions to the US that they have in Europe, but it's not a MINI...
