Unless you got out of a MINI Roadster, I'm not concerned.

The manual makes it clear that the Roadster and the Convertible aren't the same as regards window control. I think that for whatever reason they didn't implement a window up feature on the Roadster. I read the manual pretty closely just now.

Maybe it's the same reason we don't get a garage door transmitter built into our mirror.

I didn't do the power roof either. If having the power option had meant that I wouldn't need to do the latch manually I might have done it, but as I have to latch/unlatch myself it's not that much more work to do the roof too. It's one thing less to go wrong, and like others have said it's nice nostalgia for the old Spitfire/MG Midget feeling.

I'm just hoping I don't regret the decision the first time I get caught in a sudden downpour.

(It's now showing "Scheduled for Production", I've asked the dealer for my week number. Getting excited!)

Spiney,

What color did you order?

What do you mean, latch and unlatch? Are you talking about the handle latch near the rear view mirror? Or the latch behind in front of the trunk lid?

Because the rear area latch is un-necessary with the Semi-automatic. Only the overhead front latch is used and it is very easy to operate from the drivers seat.

The one by the rear view mirror. If I have to work that manually I might as well just drop/raise the roof myself and get it over with (at least that's the theory...!). I watched a YouTube video from Mini and it looks dead easy. It will probably need some breaking in but I'm looking forward to it!

My dealer just got their test car and the manual top is not an issue for me or my wife. Yes it is tight initially, but it gets easier as you get used to it. Even if you opt for the semi auto top, you still have to do the hardest part manually. That is latching the top in the up position. Realistically, we would be raising the top from a stopped position so if you have to unbelted and slightly turn to get over the wind screen, this is not an issue either. Each to their own, but for us the auto top will be a waste of 750 dollars.

It's built and waiting for a boat, according to the dealer today!

Wow Spiney.

My JCW Lightning Blue, Silver Stripes, Recaro Seats Roadster is also built and awaiting transport.

Unfortunately living in Colorado, mine comes from the West Coast and my ship will have to travel around the Panama Canal. The next available boat for the west coast is the Asian King which leaves on the 13th of March.

So I have a long 4 -6 weeks of wait left. Being in Boston you should get yours in a couple of weeks.

I thought about the Recaros, but my wife absolutely hated the bolsters on the Recaros in the Lancer Ralliart I just got rid of, so there was no way she'd let me buy anything else with that name on!

I hope so. Looks like there was a boat today which I may have missed, the next one looks like 14th March.

Yeah, I understand but I have the leather lounge seats in the Countryman and I can't stand them. They are way too short in the seat and the bottom cushion is almost non-existent. I am over 6 foot and others over 6 foot have reported the Recaros were much more comfortable with a longer seat and denser seat cushion.

Besides I wanted the leather with alcantara to match my JCW leather dash and JCW leather/alcantara steering wheel. I am hoping the leather gives a little more softness and sound dampening to the Roadster. As well as the great leather smell.

I ended up getting the leather/cloth mix as a compromise. I did like the Recaros in the Lancer, but my wife and daughter christened them the "groin-destroyers"...

Add me to the list of people that ordered semi auto.
Just because I didn't want to be that guy that wished I did ordered the semi auto top 6 months after I got the car.

Just a note to help ease the concerns of those who went with the manual top - ours does seem to be loosening up a bit. My wife took our Roadster on a couple out-of-town trips for business in the last few days. She's put the top up twice without getting out of the car to do it. I know that her experience has now made her a lot happier about not getting the semi-auto top.

I think it's going to be possible to be happy with either version.

The dome (center) light and the map lights are on the same toggles (both driver and passsenger). Toggle forward once to turn on map light, second time turns it off. Toggle backwards once for dome light, second time turns it off. If you toggle forward then backwards, it turns both map light and dome light on. You then have to toggle forward and backwards to turn off both.
