GP Coupé Project

I am nearing completion on building a unicorn: A GP Coupe.

All the hardest stuff is on including GP belly pan, rear diffuser, red intakes, big brakes, coil over springs, GP2 Wheels, Strut brace, door sills, floor mats, shift ****, badging and decals. Already had JCW Recaros when I ordered new. Remaining stuff:

Hood scoop (going carbon fiber for that)
Dash badge
GP Mode (software)
Red Seat belts.
Side scuttles

It is like having a new car now. It looks and drives better than the day I bought it. MiNI should have gone ahead with this.
As far as I can tell, this is the only one on a road anywhere in the world.

You have done a great job. Congratulations. Enjoy it. Make sure you let us know when you are ready to sell it. I bet there would be a bidding war.

Great job, that is one sweet looking ride. Is it a daily driver?

Yes, but it's a second car. I have a convertible I drive in the summer and put away in the winter.

Complete corker of a car mate.

Well done!

Love the creative vision and aesthetic approach, it's always great to see a dream come to life and inspirational too.

Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thumbs up

yours looks really smart

Been developing my own Roadster in a similar vain, over the last few years but without the cosmetic items, and with additional performance upgrades if the oem option didn’t give a substantial benefit.

Mostly as I enjoy driving a “sleeper” especially on track days.

Did you do the leather dash and other GP leather bits.... Would love to see more interior pics.

Always wondered why they didn't do this at the factory.

Coupe already was the lightest of the bunch due to roof material....and also the "quickest" in stock form.

Haven’t shared interior or bonnet pics because I’m looking for proper measurements, or a template, for proper alignment of decals on the dash panel and hood scoop. Once I get proper placement measurements and install the decals (I already have them), I’ll post some interior pics.

I posted on the GP Talk group but no volunteers yet to measure the placement of decals from the edges they are near.

Thanks for all the support, and stay tuned...

I am trying the same with mine. Nice job and this should have been made back in the day.

So the cars in your post here and in the MF article are both the same car that you modified?
BTW the color of my 2014 JCW Coupe was "Eclipse Grey" (a JCW only color I think). My current JCW Clubman is "Thunder Grey" (it's a little lighter).

Yes, it’s the same car, slightly different photos in some cases.

I would love to see your Clubman pics!

Here's one of the outside. I posted a thread here after I sold it in April.

It had the factory Recaro seats which are not very common. I had the ECU reprogrammed it was pretty quick. Automatic though.

yes! Sorry for the delay. I am planning to attend MINIs On Top next month, which will be the first time I think the car has been seen n person since it was completed.

I got the red seatbelts installed, so functionally and aesthetically, everything is present. there are some slight variations of course, some of which were mentioned in the article on MotoringFile. The seats are Recaro, and are JCW branded instead of GP branded. Same with the cross-strut brace.

Any plans to do the roof in the GP3 color?

Did you end up going with the MINI Leather Dashcap??

Those seatbelts look great in the car!!
