Dropped my car off this morning for alarm install. An hr later I get a call that it's gonna cost $1300.
Have any of you added an alarm?

 

Aren't they standard along with immobiliser?

Aftermarket or OEM?

 

have you checked with insurance as to what your 'savings' will be with an alarm?
IME not much .... I could get the maximum discount by having the VIN etched into the glass for $50 vs the cost of an alarm at $$$$$$

did you consider LoJack which costs less and has a decent recovery rate?

and for prior post ... yes there was an alarm option beyond the standard 'immobiliser'

Surely an independent alarm company can install a good insurance approved alarm cheaper.

 

I wanted alarm in hopes of preventing someone from breaking in when I'm mountain bike riding. Don't want to pay $1300. Instead I got a flashing red light that looks like an alarm system armed.
