License Plate Light bulb Replacement......

How do you remove the socket to install the new bulb after the lens has been out?

The space is very tight. There is no instructions in the owner's manual. I presume the trunk handle has to be removed.

Any suggestions?

Removing the trunk handle would make it much easier. It is held on by four torx bolts. Keep one hand on the handle when removing the last bolt. The handle may fall off and scratch the paint. Disconnect the electrical connector and the handle should be free.

It can be a little tricky, it's the tabs on the rear lens:

Then install the leds, they are a tad longer in the Ziza format, so the tabs will be bent back a hair more. Work the side in first with the metal tab as a spring then insert the other side till flush.

I recently changed mine out to LED bulbs. They are blindingly bright now. It's insane.

I tried LED bulbs once in my license plate area, they looked great but I got a bulb check warning. Make sure you get the ones that avoid that issue. I also used pliers, very carefully to remove the bulbs. Not something I want to do again if I can avoid it.
