Talking Just purchased JCW need tips!

I just bought my dads 2013 JCW R58, only has 16k miles. He never does anything to his cars and keeps them completely stock. I'm looking at upgrading it a little but can't seem to find any good info for headers/catless exhaust, and air intake, I'm also thinking of putting in a short-shifter. Id like some info on some things to possibly do to the car that won't cost me thousands but make it have a little more performance. any ideas and tips would be greatly appreciated!

You have a N18 engine and for the most part anything that fits the R56 will work with your car. For about ~$1k you can get a intercooler (Helix or Forge - I've have both and IMO the Helix is better) and a Manic tune. It will really make a difference.

That's a great looking motor!
Best thing about buying from family, you know how it's been treated.

Go with the JB+ tuning chip. This is not a permanent remap of the ECU and far cheaper for about the same performance increase for a daily driver car. You will not be disappointed.

Of course, you will have a lot of suggestions to invest more. Just keep in mind that your car is still under service and warranty.

Drive it a bit and see what you think. I think it has great brakes and excellent power too. Handling depends on whether you have the factory sport suspension (less understeer which Minis are known for). If not a 19-21mm solid rear sway bar helps a lot for about $300 installed. Love that color combo, almost went with that myself.

Here are a few things you might like.

Short shifter throw is to large on stock
JCW rear diffuser
lighted door logo lights
Larger intercooler
maniac tune
cold air intake that actually gets cold air.

Find out if you have the JCW sport supension seems it was free but u had to ask for it.
if not get a light weight rear sway bar.

1st thing get rid of the Run Flat tires.

This should get u going.

Pretty cool , come in pairs of two. And super bright.

Really like the LED lighted door sill : they have a JCW version also.

This is useless and a waste of money. Why not a JCW carbon fiber shift **** for about the same money?

At least, you can enjoy everyday how it feels in your hand. I also have the handbrake as a complement and it nicely dress up the interior.

The thing about the lighted door sill its very nice at night and is impressive.

My wifes BMW has them the sills glow orange from a inlaid design alone with her BMW LoGo.

My other car that has them has Stainless Steel sills with etched LoGo and it's nice as well.

I have the JCW shift **** already and it does feel good.

I always wanted the lighted door sills , one of the few options my R58 does not have. See them on BMW's and Porsche allot. Plus there is a JCW option. They are bright.

How expensive are they? This is a matter of taste and where we want to spend our money.

I would be more interested in an option that could provide more glow in the cabin at night from the standard colors we can select and mostly under the dash.

On the interior LED factory ambient ( colors ), you can turn them up and down with the overhead dimmer toggle.

Now on the interior lights in general when you open the door I have the Ziza and they are really bright.

So, those are the options.

I think the overhead toggle changes the ambient lighting colors, and you adjust the brightness by pushing one of the buttons on the tachometer guage. I think.

Yea, overhead is for the ambient ( color option lights ), the dash lights ( orange- ish red ) are done by the little push button.

The overhead toggle that changes the color if you go the other direction should be the brightness.

It would be nice to have the same color ambient lights in the footwells. Some Buick models come standard with them and also in the door panels.

The sill plates seem nice but at this price, I still believe they are useless on a daily econobox driver as the Mini unless it is a dressed up show car.

Again, this is just my opinion.

Just purchased the manic stage 2 tune, Helix Intercooler, Milltek catless downpipe, and forge hotside boost tube (red) just because it was cheap and deleted the resonator. Everything gets installed this Tuesday, 4/12. tune is already installed and using it on stock map until installs are complete so I don't screw anything up in the meantime, messed around in map A and absolutely love it. Can't wait to let it run to its actual potential!!!

Now I'm looking into boost gauges and gauge brackets, CAI's, possibly the rear diffuser (not sure if it actually makes much of a difference?), more than likely going to get the craven speed short shift and NM shift box because I personally like the look of the black with red stitch leather gator. id also like to do something with the hood scoop to make it actually function properly and take out the plastic guard and remove the underhood carpeting thing, any more suggestions?

unfortunately my wheels are staying on for the time being because i have the tire policy on them and would rather get free/cheaper tires than have to keep replacing them myself. But once the policy is up I'm def going to switch them out and get new rims and lowering springs.
