Congrats again, looks like you have the JCW appearance package also, inside and out. If i did the cloth seats those are the ones i like with the red stitching, some rare combos on with the color on your R58. Well done.

I'd love to tell you that I'm a shrewd, eagle-eyed buyer who snatched up a rarity, but the truth is that I was just looking for a Coupe with low miles, manual tranny, and heated seats in a color I liked. Speaking of low miles, did I mention the car has less than 7K miles on it?

Also, the 03 MCS it's replacing is Indi Blue. When I saw this Coupe was a very dark blue, I loved it immediately (tho I didn't know it was rare until you told me).

Getting jazzed to pick it up on saturday!

I'm curious - what other trannys did the Coupe come in?

Yes, very rare, I wanted a R58 JCW in Kite blue loaded and not too many around. Think the reef is even rarer, never seen that body in that color in person, and I have gone to some huge MINI meets.

The transmission on them are the 6 speed automatic Aisin transmission and the 6 speed manual. The Manual seems to be more rare , even more on the R59 roadster.

Ah. dube53's comment above gave me the impression that there were other manual trannys used in the Coupe that weren't 6 speed. My mistake.

That is a sweet Coupe. I never saw any Mini in Reef Blue, I never heard of it. With the JCW body kit too. Sometimes I miss my 2007 6 speed. Long live the R58!

Scooterboy has been very lucky to find a 6sp manual.

The very small Mini engine never matched well to the automatic gearbox and the manual was really the way to go to play with the engine power and torque range. I am wondering why most of you guys ordered with A/T.

In the early days of the New MINI the sticks were very common, then on Gen 2 MINI 2007+ and MINI went more mainstream , you saw the automatics flood the dealer lots as the car could sell to a many more people ( who could not drive stick ) , now it looks like the manual in making a resurgence in the Gen 3 MINIs. So when I went on search for a R58 JCW used, lots were automatics. Even more in the R59, which i guess for some people the auto is easier to drive day to day. That's what the general consumer would say when I went to meet new owners at the dealerships.

Countrymans on MINI dealership lots have the most automatics, its hard to find a manual in those also.

Interesting - thanks for that perspective.

While we're on the subject, is there a place where we can see how many of each model were manual vs automatic? Or other stats like how many were made of each color, etc.?

I'd love to find a database of that info and play with it.
