R58 Trailer Harness Wiring Questions

Trailer Harness Wiring Questions
I purchased the trailer hitch and wiring harness from mini mania. I had some "opportunities" with the hitch portion (things not quite lining up and having to be cut), but I got through it.
Moving on to the wiring harness (which mini mania seems to get from OutMotoring), I'm confused and skeptical about the wire colors in the instructions. On the passenger side it refers to a solid blue wire for my tail light - but I see no solid blue wire (which mini wire is actually the tail light).
It refers to a brake light as blue w/grey stripe on 11+ and yellow w/black for 07-10 (but I have both of those in my harness). Possible the most confusing wire color issue is the wire they instruct me to connect to the hot power supply on the drivers side. The instructions say the black wire (yet the yellow wire they supply and instruct to connect to the left turn signal is the heavy gauge wire - and the black wire is thin).
If anybody knows which of our wires are which (brake, tail light) and/or has any experience hooking up a trailer wiring harness to our cars, I could use some information. Thanks.

test light results
sorted it out this morning with a test light. Left turn is blue w/brown stripe, right is blue w/red, and brake is blue w/grey as stated in the instructions. However, the yellow w/black stripes lights up when the lights are turned on (thus it's the tail/running light).
As for the power (black) for the harness, it looks like whomever put the kit together incorrectly used a thick gauge yellow wire to extend the yellow to reach the drivers side.
