R58 Ordering my Mini in the next two weeks
Ordering my Mini in the next two weeks
I am ordering in the next 2-3 a 13' Mini Coupe Spice Orange with Silver Roof and Silver Sport stripes Manual With the cold weather package. Any sugestions like the Nav system is it work it or waste of money tell me what you think please!
My only advice is if you don't think you'll use the power folding mirrors then skip the cold weather package and just get heated seats + heated mirrors. It's $150 cheaper than the cold package and while that may not sound much, it all adds up. I have power folding mirrors on my current R56 and I never use them so on my R58 order I skipped them.
For me $750 is a lot for integrated nav, considering you can get a top of the line Garmin for less than half of that with lifetime maps and traffic. If you're really against having another device mounted in the car I can see that the factory nav may be worth it but for me it wasn't so I just got the tech package without it.

Thank You. I appreciate any advice I get since I will be a Mini virgin lol this is my first one and I am excited. But In turn I want to do a much research as possible before placing the order since the car is a special order.
I suggest getting the Technology package without NAV. it really isnt worth the extra $750 for the NAV. Anytime I need directions, I just put the address into google maps or Apple maps on my iphone and I still get turn by turn audible directions through the Mini System. No need to look at a map, IMO. And I agree with Chimera on the folding mirrors. The LAST thing Im going to do when parking is fold my mirrors in. I had this feature on my last Mini, and it was a novelty to me, I never used the folding mirror function.
Agreed - drop the driving lights if you have to (you won't use them much anyway as they only work when high-beams are on).
First I love the look of the driving light's lol they stay haha i know there not practical but i think there cool. I like the Bi-Xenon headlights so I probally will add them.

Personally, Sport Suspension is a waste of money as it really doesnt offer much improvement over stock, IMO. I went with regular suspension and plan to add coilovers and a better adjustable rear sway bar which will beat the lame sport suspension upgrade from Mini by far. I did this on my last Mini with no regrets.
Thank you guys. Im going on the 29th to place my order and I would rather go imformed then to waste thousands on crap that I dont realy need. Since this is not a off the lot car and one I will be ordering for me.
@ MakoBimmer not a fan personally. In the Orange. I am going to modify the car slighly mostly collored side mirrors minor touches then some motor goodies in time when i get it. I plane on doing Intake high flow down pipe and a high flow exhaust.
I reached out for advice from others before placing my order. The most helpful advice was "Parking Distance Control". I bought it and am really glad I did; it is tougher to see behind with the Coupe than it had been with my R53.
I'll pretty much just confirm what others have said:
NAV - I have the NAV (my car was a 2012 CPO and it came with it) and almost never use it. With the map applications on almost every smart phone available now, I find that I just use that instead. Do get the technology package though.
Cold Weather Package - Whoever ordered my car got the heated seats, but not the folding mirrors. They'd be nice to have, but I don't know that they're worth the extra $$$ for the package. If I lived somewhere that I had to park the car on the street a lot, that might be different.
Parking Distance Control - Again, something that I probably wouldn't have ordered on my own, but my car came with it and now I'm really glad it did since rear visibility isn't one of the Coupe's strong points.
Sport Suspension - I have no idea. My car is a JCW, but it looks like the sport suspension is still an option according to the Mini web site. I find that a little strange, and I'm honestly not sure if my car has it or not. Anyone know if you can get a copy of your build information from Mini?
