R56 vs R58 Exhaust

I', just wondering, is there any different between R56 vs R58 Exhaust.
in which part it does not fit?

I keep searching but cant find the answer, some say it will fit, some said its different.

but from the design of the muffler itself it looks 99% similar. I myself cant really find the different between those two.

can you guys help me to answer this please.

thank you and best regards from INDONESIA

Did you check the part numbers to make sure they're identical? I work in a parts department (not BMW/MINI), and I've seen the use of generic pictures for multiple applications, but the part numbers are completely different. Just a heads-up.

wow thanks Bro Braminator, thats really helping me alot.
Now I can buy the muffler easyly. I try keep looking some brand, Akraprovic using the same part number.
some other brand doesnt have for R58, but that's probably because they dont know if it fit or not.

so thank you so much for your reply, especially with those diagram showing both exhaust

We've put plenty of R56 exhaust on the R58 with no issues so I wouldn't worry about it.

Cool! Even I've been wondering if they're the same. Glad to know I don't have to search for R58-specific exhausts.

Not to hi-jack, but does this mean a r56 downpipe would work with an r58?

Yes.

Keep in mind the R56 and R58 are basically the exact same car from the belt line down.

I think the wheel base is a bit shorter and the chassis stiffer then our R56 brothers/sisters.

Cat backs tend to have some room for adjustment. They can be slightly shortened or lengthened.

The DP is the same for all 'S' makes of the 2nd gen.

^R58 wheelbase is identical to R56. But yes, the chassis is a tad stiffer than the R56.

My 2007 R56 and I are new to NAM. I'm looking for and aftermarket muffler/exhaust that will fit the 2007 R56 AND provide some auditory music to my ears. Borla advertises a catback system but it is the wrong length and wrong flange. I'd like to hear from anyone that has had success in finding a muffler/system that lets the good sounds come through.

If you want the best check out the Akrapovic exhaust it fits absolutely perfect and sounds great. There is also the NM exhaust and Invidia.
They do have a borla for your car but we don't recommend it as it doesn't fit well and many times you have to cut the center body support or remove it.

Got me hands on a mini challenge exhaust ( back box section ) like in your photo but got the car on ramps yesterday to find my R58 FJCW couoé is one complete exhaust , was told it would be a two parter , not sure how I feel about cutting up a exhaust that is only two months old.
