Oil Service Indicator not counting down?

Hi everyone. Just as the title says. I got an oil change roughly 1,000 miles ago from the dealer and they reset the computer as well. When I left the dealer the count down started at 9000.

Fast forward 1000 miles later and the thing still says 9000 till next oil change. Does it go down every 1k? Something wrong here?

It goes down when it is ready. It really depends on the type of driving. No need to worry. Typically it won't say u need another oil change until you've driven 15k mikes. I only go 7500 or so and then I pay for the next oil change. at the 1 year anniversary it then gets the dealer paid for oil change. When I pay for the oil change I don't have the counter reset.

Exactly. The ECU uses a combination of miles motored, plus gas mileage, I believe. If you're not a lead foot, your counter may take a while to move, and then move slowly. You may find that by the time your counter reaches 0, you've motored 12k or 14k instead of 9k. Or, if you motor with a little too much gusto, maybe only 6-8k instead of the original 9k. Hehheh.

Oooh alright. I was confused because my R50 goes down every 250miles I believe haha.

Looks like I have to drive the car harder...I thought I already was lol! I'll just keep track so I can do the oil change every 7500....then let the dealer do every other oil change as many of you do. Their service intervals are just too long. I put at least 100 miles a day...except sundays lol, lots of highway miles. I plan on keeping this car for a loooong time.

Thank you for the info!
