R58 An article that GETS it!
An article that GETS it!
.....well, it is Motoringfile, so it may be a bit biased but they hit the nail on the head. I especially like the point about he jaded Journo's we've all come to umm, dislike!

My wife and I took a week-long road trip over the 4th of July holiday. Everywhere we went, I got positive comments on my JCW coupé. The most negative thing I heard the entire week was "But I could never buy one, because I can't fit the kids."
I think the article is correct; the car will leave the Mini stable for lack of sales before it ever catches on, and that's a shame.

Thats why I'm getting mine as soon as they start the orders for 2013 sometime next month for the jcw coupes.
MF sold out to BMW/MINI a while ago, so like TerminalVelocity said, they are a bit biased. I take their posts with a grain of salt. They weren't as kind recently comparing the JCW Coupe to the BMW 1M, so maybe they're trying to make up for that with this article.
I also have the JCW Coupe, but in a less flashy Midnight Black and Silver color scheme. I enter my JCW Coupe in lots of car shows, sometimes right next to exotics. It never fails to get A LOT of attention and about 99% positive reactions. Because of the looks, MINI name, or racing pedigree, my $36,500 MINI gets a lot of respect from owners of cars costing many times its price. I hope it stays rare and I hope MINI will race more of them in the future in place of the Hardtop.
With the MINI Hardtop having been around for ten years, they are getting to be fairly common (even though each one is unique). I like having a less-common MINI Coupe. I have only seen two others on the road in the eight months I've owned mine. I don't hope the MINI Coupe gets cancelled, but I do hope that MINI keeps the production numbers low.
While I still prefer the steering and handling of my 2004 JCW Cooper, I like the power of the JCW Coupe. And especially the brakes. I have the Sport Suspension and OEM runflat tires and don't find the ride too harsh; in fact, I'd like to upgrade to the JCW suspension. I don't like the way the rear dips down on hard acceleration, I'd like the car to stay flat.
At over 14,000 miles, I'm already thinking about what to do with my Coupe at the end of the warranty. From the early spy photos and information, I don't think I will be interested in a third-generation Hardtop, but would trade in my Coupe for a Rocketman if MINI built it. Or a MINI Pickup if built on the Clubman platform, not Countryman. I also own a rare 2004 JCW Cooper and might trade in my Coupe down the road for a classic Mini instead.
