R58 My Third MINI
My Third MINI
Yes, you read that correct. MINI number 3. First was an '06 S Royal Gray. Last February I traded that in for a '11 Spice Orange with less options and was never quite satisfied.
Saturday, on the way back from cleaning out my late fathers home, I was looking at facebook and my dealer had posted a photo of my new baby. It HAD to be mine. I went back Sunday morning, got rid of the Spice Orange and got:
2012 JCW Coupe! Midnight Black, Cold and Premium... with a twist! They had a local company, WrapJax, do a matte black on the body, and left the top normal. Check this out. I will get better pictures once I get it cleaned up and the weather here cooperates...

Wow - that is a nice looking car! Between it being a MINI, and a Coupe, and the matte black, I'm pretty sure you won't see many of those on the road!
And I can relate - we've owned four, and in a few months the Roadster will be number five!

My Coupé is also my 3rd MINI. I am completely digging the matte black wrap on that car. VERY sharp.

Definitely the only one on your block! Scary, sinister.
Indeed: what's the routine to care for that finish/coating/film? Fingerprint oil a problem?
Thinking about matte black surfaces on normal cars, can be a PITA to keep them looking "normal" / uniform.
That said...very cool ride, congrats!

Yeah, fingerprints are an issue, and every one wants to touch it!! ARRRGH!
I am fine with that though. I usually wash my car once a week, depending on weather (Seattle [UGH!])
Care instructions are just soft cloth or microfiber to dry and soft cloth to wash with a mild car wash detergent. I use Zaino on a regular basis and am thinking about calling the company that did it to see if i can get any matte black scraps to test some things out on.

Thanks! I do too!! Spent a couple hours in it today. Took a corner like I normally would and heard the stuff in the boot that I was transporting for work slam against each other and the wall of the trunk. Luckily all was ok when I got to the shop.
Its a wrap and runs 2 to 5 k
Pretty unique that's for sure. Not sure that I would own it I'm more for color.
That being said I doubt you will find many of those around and it will certainly be a conversation starter. Congratulations on your new ride!!
3rd Mini here as well.
2009 MCS Pepper White. My wife's car.
2009 MCS Chile Red. My car but traded in.
2012 JCW Chile Red Coupe.

Can it ever be removed, thus revealing a brand new paint job after a few years? Maybe peel it off like contact paper one night drunk and wake up to a red car!
