I mostly have rain to contend with. It rarely snows in Seattle. Though I sometimes wish I too lived in Florida.

So, now that there have been a few R58s out in the wild, has anyone come across their rear spoiler freezing in the cold weather?

Freezing rain and 4-6 inches of snow expected the next couple days. I should know pretty quickly what happens when it's frozen.

The car was wet from our rain yesterday and then the thermometer dropped overnight with some snow. I had to brush snow off this morning and the spoiler appeared to have ice filling the gaps around it. With the temperature at 17 degs this morning I headed out for work. When I got on the interstate, hit 45mph and with an audible "crunch" the spoiler rose with no problem. It setled back into place when I pulled off the interstate and finished the drive. No problem.

I have no problems so far with the snow. Same result as paulsminis. It's going to be pretty rare that there will be enough of a pure ice coating thick enough seal and freeze it. Snow is no issue.

I don't know that it would be all that rare. I used to live in New York and I can recall a number of days when there was an ice storm and my car was covered in fairly thick ice. You would think that the engineers would have considered this possibility and perhaps used some sort of sensing device that after a certain amount of pressure would shut off the motor.

Well I can't speak for other regions, but I've lived in Michigan for almost 60 years and it might happen here once, maybe twice a year. All the moving parts (windows, wipers) are subject to the same issues. I would consider that rare, but I certainly am not looking for a debate on what's rare or not. It won't be an issue for me.

I'm glad to hear nobody has had any issues with their spoiler in the cold weather yet. Living in Canada, and my future R58 living outdoors (no choice), it'll have its fair share of snow and ice buildup. I guess just making sure the majority of the snow is cleared off is enough to help the spoiler live a long life!
