The AIDA reached the dock in NY at 5:15a. Next.....a visit to the VDC and a short trip to Philly.

 

My car has been released to a carrier and is on the way to port! Anybody else in the same bunch as me? There are boats leaving on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th... hopefully I catch one of those!

 

Of the Coupes I know of "custom ordered" you will be the first to be delivered. Congratulations!

ASK-MINI has updated my coupe to ...Being transported to the port of Exit. Yesterday, it reflected in the paint shop. Fast work over there I must say. Now, just have to figure out when the next ship to Port Hueneme is. :-)

No pre-orders will be delivered on launch day, which is really a shame. All of us who ordered back in August should have been the first to take delivery on October 1st. Instead we have to watch people walk in off the street and get Coupes before we do.

I will give the written report but I can't help with the pictures.

I'm going to take my time and maybe even my recorder so I can record my thoughts as I am going through the test drive. I'm really looking forward to it! 40% chance of rain on Saturday. I'm hoping it will be dry when I drive it and trust me I will DRIVE it. I am not afraid to GET ON IT and will do so. Lets face it that is the only way to ensure that he car is everything that it should be.

So the drive is scheduled for 12:00 on Saturday. By the time the drive is over and the wife and I go eat a late breakfast I anticipate I will be home by 3 pm or so. I'll get my thoughts together and put them in writing on this channel.

This should be fun.
I don't expect it to be like my GTO in terms of acceleration but I do have some pretty high expectations of this car. So I will try and be very objective.

I'll make the comparison against my MCS.

Body Shop on Wednesday - Paint Shop today!

So much for getting that order in right away!

I just hope when they painted it they put a silver roof on it. If they did, and the MINI USA configuration only allows white silver with black - it could be a one of a kind! Now I guess THAT is worth waiting for! I hope to be on a boat next week and here in time for a long weekend wedding in New Hampshire. Man will it be fun up there on the twisties!!

I am pulling for you guys. Hopefully MINI gets all the remaining pre-order Coupes out super quick.

 

My order just went in Monday the 26th, I'm guessing it won't arrive until December, this far ahead I'm trying not to get in the habit of checking my status more than once a week, so every Monday. I'm already addicted to reading threads in the Coupe forum, I don't need a 2nd addiction.

There are two coups at my dealer in Dallas. They are not for sale now because they want them for people interested in the coupe to drive. I drove one today. It is really fast. ski

I ordered from Mini of Plano. They had 3 Coupes (1 base, 2 S's) but sold the base and is delivering it on Saturday.

I'm bummed that I'm not the first Coupe sold at Mini of Plano.

 

I'm attending a huge MINI meet this weekend and there will be a guy with an MCS Coupe who just bought it and won't officially own it until the 1st. I'm glad for him but it will suck seeing someone else with a Coupe who bought off the lot when I've been waiting for months since they announced the launch date.

 

Find out what thing he really wanted, but did not get and just remind him of it all weekend.

 

MA emailed today now in status 112, production starts any day. Maybe an early Nov delivery after all

 

I ordered from Tinley Park. I am excited to see the first coupes arriving. I'dlike to see mine in the near future too. Still in the "Scheduled for production pack."

Well I'm quite surprised! When I called ASK-MINI this morning, my car is now finished and being transported to port of exit. I'm hopeful I can get on the Elektra that sails October 2. I'm amazed and impressed at how quickly the process goes once you actually hit production. I feel for everyone still waiting, and know we will all be having the time of our life once we get behind the wheel!

I went a step backwards it seems. Yesterday ASK-MINI reflected "Vehicle is being transported to port of exit". Today it reflects "Production completed, waiting to be released to carrier". If I am ever so lucky... I might get on a ship leaving Oct 3.

 

Still no more news for me.
