JCW Aero kit Delay?

I was reading this on MotoringFile website about the 2012 JCW aerokit.

"The big news for the 2012 model year is that John Cooper Works Hardtop and Convertible will comes standard with the JCW aero kit at the factory. However, it will take a bit more time than MINI expected to ensure a perfect integration at Plant Oxford, so the kit will not arrive until November 2011 production. This means that the 2012 John Cooper Works Hardtop and Convertible will not be available for ordering until the November allocation opens."

Does this mean that early orders will be delayed until November now that the aero kit is factory installed instead of dealer installed? Any thoughts?

It doesn't appear so. MINI stated that the JCW Coupe will be available at launch and it will have the aero kit installed at the factory (as will the JCW Package equipped Coupes I assume). Apparently, the Coupe is the "guinea pig" for factory JCW aero kit installs, and come November, factory installs will be expanded to include the hardtops and convertibles as well.

Guess we'll know 100% for sure as soon as someone who ordered a JCW Coupe or Package gets an actual production number.

I asked my dealer this same question. I hope you are correct, TheOfficeMaven.

It means that if you want a 2012 JCW with factory standard JCW aero kit, you have to wait for the November production to start. I have a deposit down for a Canadian JCW and MINI haven't released the November build slots yet.

The impression I got was there are still some 2011 JCWs being made without the 2012 options but I can't really confirm - that might have been an MA pushing to get my deposit.

Our S Coupe had its configuration properly show up on the Track Your MINI section of the Owner's Lounge today and it properly lists the JCW Package we ordered. There's no indication of any delay in production so far, and so I imagine that's a good sign.

I think the Motoring File quote from the OP was referring to the factory JCW hatch and factory JCW convertible only.

The factory JCW Coupe is not available at this time from my understanding. You ordered a Coope S with JCW Aero kit which is a different beast in a way. Is the Aero kit being installed at the factory, port or dealership for you Coupe, do you know?

It's a factory install of the aero kit for sure. Therefore, if the JCW Package is going through with the factory install of the aero kit, then so should the JCW Coupe.

Is it really true that the JCW Coupe is not available yet??? It's my understanding that a few NAM members have already ordered it and received their production numbers. If it wasn't going to be available until November, then they would not be able to get a production number yet. I don't think the dealers have even received their October production slots as of yet (they may know they're getting them, but no actual numbers yet AFAIK).

That would be cool if the JCW Coupe can be ordered now. Although I am not concerned either way since I put a deposit down for a 2012 JCW hatch

Can't wait to see some of the Coupes with the JCW Aero - my favorite combo. Be sure to post pics when you have it delivered.

I have a JCW Coupe ordered for production week 40, the first week of October. So they are building them then.

For those that want a little more info about the JCW Pack (and prof that the aero kit is factory installed):

World Premier: JCW Pack & 2011 JCW Tuning Kit

According to the article, production of the JCW Pack began in April, 2011 builds. Therefore, it has only been available from the factory for around 4 months.

Has anyone ever seen the JCW factory pack with painted wheel arches? I think that's one of the cooler features of it. To my knowledge painted wheel arches aren't even done by Mini dealers as of now.
