R57, 83K miles. Automatic climate control. AC had been working fine on Auto, 68 degrees, but being the hottest day of the summer, punched the MAX button. BAM and metallic rattle like the exhaust had fallen off! Blowing warm air now.
Jacked her up to find a hose had parted ways with the hard line going to the compressor. Looks like the crimp couldn't hold pressure?
Given that the AC was working, am I in the clear as far as not needing a compressor? (hope so)??

I wouldn't rule out a new compressor. The gas also contains the oil. And metallic noises don't sound right.
