Lowering Question

I always thought that the r56 and r57 had the exact same suspension (at least interchangeable parts)

Looking and multiple different websites I get different options for convertible vs non convertible.

Tire rack as an example
r57 H&R Lowering Springs Product Number 29090.1 lowering the car 1.2 inches $199
r56 H&R Lowering Springs Product Number 50452 lowering the car 1.4 inches $232

I also get different shock options (some the same)
Mostly it is more for the r56 and I would like to know IF I can use them, and if so I imagine I could use the same springs?

Maybe the springs are stiffer on the r57 since it weighs more from reinforcement, if so that would make sense and I "could" use anything but at least then I would know why.

let me know if you know (or what you know)

HELP! (Cross posting in r56 and r57, delete the extra if needed, yes I tried to search first, had so many forum tabs opens that the 1290312497 ads had my work laptop sounding like a jet engine)
Thanks!

The R57 is heavier in the rear due to the roof mechanism, so the OEM springs are different. I think once you go to coilovers, it doesn't "really" matter, since you can adjust the ride height and spring preload to accommodate. The fact that H&R offers different springs for each platform, I would expect the rates to be slightly different.

Physically the shocks and springs fit the R56 and R57 the same.

But yes they are different for the Convertible as the convertible is actually heavier. So yes H&R has different lowering springs for the Cabrio and Hardtop. We do offer both of them.

Also if you are doing springs don't forget you will want some rear adjustable control arms to get the rear alignment back in spec

And a rear sway bar as that will give you the biggest improvement in handling, and you have to remove the shocks to install
