R57 LOUD static noise
LOUD static noise
Hi All: My 2010 Cooper S convertible has developed a strange problem. It has stumped the mechanics and car electricians I have consulted. I believe the problem is connected to the "car access system," but that is just my guess. In short, when I use the key fob to unlock the car, the doors unlock and after a brief moment, very LOUD static noise starts to blare out of all the car's speakers. It is not a problem with the radio which works fine (though I can barely hear it over the static noise) and I cannot raise or lower the static noise volume using the radio volume control. While driving, the static noise is nonstop. If I unlock the doors, but do not open any of the doors, the static blares for a couple of minutes then stops. The, if I open any door, the trunk or the hood, it triggers the static noise. When I lock the car with the key fob, the loud static noise will continue for 1-2 minutes and then it stops. Otherwise the car access system works perfectly. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
2010 clubman
I have no clue what the cause is, but this has happened to me in my clubman. It happened just recently. It was so loud I had to park my car and panic a little. After about 10 min it ended and hopefully won’t happen again.
