Outdoor storage

Hi all, ignoring for a moment the vandalism aspect, how good are the tops on these to keep the car outside all the time? I live in an apartment building so garaging is not an option :(

Oh, fwiw, Chicago area - with all the lovely snow and all.

Thanks!

i think you'll be fine just keep an eye out on your seals and keep the top clean, conditioned (or whatever you can do for cloth). MY mini is outside all the time and it's okay. I don't like it but i have to right now.. i wanna garage it!

Wax, wax, wax :-) And don't be afraid to buy something excellent.

Whoops...hit post before adding the P/N for MINI's convertible/soft top cleaner: #83120413109. Dirt is the enemy of the fabric when opening and closing the top.

I know there are two different camps on this topic. However for me, I would never have bought a Cabrio if I did not have a garage to keep her warm and dry in. Cleanliness and treatment of the top are key as is never ever take your cabrio through a commercial car wash. The product Ragg Top makes an excellent cleaner and re-water proofer.

Don't use automatic car washes & keep the top clean & treated. That's it. My '05 has never had a garage & has never had any fabric problems.

If you want extra protection, there are "Cab Covers" that cover the roof while you park for the night.

Well as you can see in my sig, I gone and did it. Only time will tell if I'll regret it (the getting it without a garage aspect). The car is great - now I wish it would go above 10 degrees so I can drive it open!
