Yes the R56 exhaust would fit.

From what I understand, there is a slightly different routing on the R57 then the R56, to accommodate for the top closing/opening mechanics.

The fuel filler is modified(hence the door instead of the cap) but the exhaust route and hangars are the same.

Thanks for the info. I noticed the fuel door as opposed the to fuel cap on my dad's JCW Cooper and didn't really think anything of it. Thanks for confirming that route and hangers are the same.

A couple of things I've noticed (not necessarily R57 specific)...
1. When setting / accelerating / decelerating the cruise control, it briefly displays the new MPH setting in the display area of the tachometer.
2. When going into Sport Mode, SPORT appears briefly in the display area. Curiously, nothing appears when turning it off.

Here is one more. You might find it difficult to clean the inside of boot window by sitting on the rear seats. I found an easier way. Just open the boot, and raise the top a bit like you were loading large object in it. Then you can reach under and clean it without straining your arms or legs...

Wish I figure that out a few weeks back.

Just to follow up on the exhaust fitting for an R57...

The exhaust will *fit* but the diagonal cross braces that bolt to the bottom to stiffen the chassis will no longer fit after the exhaust is installed.
Does anyone know of thinner cross braces or some sort of a solution short of custom fab work?

This is a good one. I have had such a hard time getting to the back window with the top closed...

This would apply to any 2nd Gen MINI, but I learned it watching a new Cabrio being unloaded from the huge enclosed MINI Auto Transport from Brunswick at the new MINI of Fort Myers, Florida.

The side mirror housings can be rotated a quarter-turn toward the window for a narrow storage space (like inside that Transport).

I did know that there was a power 'fold' but did not know how they 'folded' and never noticed that they are all on a swivel mount.

1st gen mirrors could manually rotate also. Its more of a 'parking on narrow European streets' feature then an 'easy transport' feature.

Boot 12volt cigarrette lighter plug in

Isn't it like the 2009 models?... it's on the left inside edge of the boot. As you open the boot, put your hand just left of center along the inside near wall of the boot. It will look like a big button, that is the plastic cap/plug they put to protect from shorting the circuit. It's there in case you got the MINI cooler bag which plugs into it...or for any other 12volt accessory you need to plug in ...say perhaps the tire inflation pump when you switch to non-runflats. Don't mean to patronize, but it did escape me for a few months until I really needed to find a place for my daughter's toy to recharge.

Absolutely. We found it by accident and had to show it to our dealer. Just checking to see if anyone else knew it.

Just a note, if it has to be formatted FAT32 the largest USB stick/drive you can use will be 32GB due to FAT32 limitations.

Does the Jack Kit include a wheel chock. Mine is missing.
Also I would not mind having a spare to keep in the garage. Where is the best place to get a full size tire & wheel.

Just discovered it today. Awesome feature.

Actually it may not be official but when I'm on a hill of any incline I just switch my auto into manual 2 and the MINI stays put with the foot off the brake. Been doing it daily for years without fail.

This sounds like it might have changed. I'm having a bike rack installed later in the week.

Apparently on more recent production (I don't have a date on mine) the passenger seat no longer has an 'express open' feature which tilts and slides it forward to gain access to the back... confirmed it with my MA... strange!

Even stranger is that my driver's seat still has this...

Both seats did on my '07...

Hey Derepente,

Yep, on the R57. It is on order and should be here in the next day or so. It is from the dealer, so we should be good to go on it. I questioned them on it and they said for a short time, there was no rack option, but they have made some modifications and created an adapter for the rack...

I'll take pics as soon as I get it.

Thanks for the Quick reply. MINI should advertise about these modifications and let people know.
Looking forward to the pics.

minor annoyance: with door or boot open, you cannot lower or raise the windows. seems pretty silly to me.

Thanks so much for this sticky/thread! Patyacht & Derepente, I just want to thank you both for pointing out the 2nd outlet bit. I asked about that at the dealer and they didn't even seem to know about a 2nd one, they even 'supposed' that the R57 just didn't have a second one (Upon my assumption, I probably wouldn't have bothered looking through the owners manual to discover it). It's a bit scary to me how little some MA's know about this car, it's as if they never even got a training video, plus some can be so smug to my questions (I don't understand that). Anyway, I learned to just deal with it, then, when I was awaiting for delivery I found this thread and found the truth! It's been a wonderful convenience for me. I love learning new things about this car, so keep this up guys, it's incredibly useful.
