This has probably been posted but... What oil do you all use, I like Castrol. Where do you get your oil filter? What brand?

Royal Purple and get a filter at Mini or a Bosch from one of the AP stores..

 

You'll get more replies in the first gen forum -- nobody is driving or changing oil on the '09 yet

 

i use castrol myself..since herman doesnt see a lot of miles i splurge and have the mini dealer do mine when it needs it. you can buy a pack of mini filters though at mini mania. you could always just go to wal-mart to have it done . wow i cont believe i didnt get hit with a bolt of lightening for posting that!!

I had my first change at 12,000Kilometers (american spec car living in Europe) And I changed the oil to RP. I didnt really see and difference until at my 25,000 service, when the oil was supposed to be changed, I switched to Mobil 1 fully Syn. due to unavailablility of the Royal Purple. I noticed right away that the car just drives different. Its not bad, but definetly the car was better off w/ Royal Purple. The dealer wasnt to happy with it (Royal Purple) however, I was also told youd void your warranty if you blew the engine with oil other than Mobil OR Castrol. I havent had the best of luck with Castrol oils and engine life. If you drive like a sunday driver then your engine will probably run just as long with ANY OIL..... just my 2 cts.
