Hey guys, anyone waiting for 2009 Cabrio? I've put deposit for first build spot for 2009 that my dealer gets so long wait started. I suspect that delivery is probably March/April 2009.

I test drove current model and loved it. Almost ordered it. However, I decided to wait for new model mainly becouse of timing (I could get one delivered in September but I will be out of town September and October so after that not much opportunity to drive) and engine update with better MPG, which is big too.

Anyone in the same boat?

I'm soon to be #2 @ the dealership.

I guess I love the MINI, I've had an 03 MCS -JB , an 06 MCSc - AB and soon to be an 09 MCSc -WhateverColorIsTheNewAB.

Cabrio 2009

You are not alone. I put a deposit on mine on 6/7/08 and was assured I was first on the list. They couldn't really tell me when I could expect delivery, but were talking November '08. But from what I hear on these bulletins, it's not likely to see one until spring '09. That poses a probelm, as my 18 year old Miata is unlikely to make it through another Connecticut winter. Now I don't know what to do - wait and pray - or try to grab an '08...

Congrats on all your '09's. I'm jealous. Frank1330, want to swap even, your '09 for my '08? Put some studded tires on the Miata, buy $4/month road service from your cell phone company, and let the Miata take the winter's salt beating.

Yep

I am #2 on the list and I pre-ordered June 5. They said delivery would be sometime around March and the dealer itself would get half a dozen models to stock before then and I would be offered one of those if I wanted it instead of custom ordering one.

Good advice Bob - I'll beef up my tires - and I already have AAA - Miata has brake and radiator issues, too - but even if I have to put a grand into it, it's probably worth it.

When you sign up at the dealer, how much deposit do you put down? Is this refundable if you decide not to buy? I'm in NJ near Prestige and Morristown, does anyone know their policies? Thanks!

How do you know what color/options to choose? Maybe you just put your name on a list and don't specify anything yet? Is anyone skeptical about ordering blindly (pun intended) as you don't really know how Mini dealt with the blind spot/rear visibilty/rollover bar issue yet? I'm interested in doing this same thing, but I am concerned about the above-mentioned stuff.

I put a $1000 deposit down to reserve a built slot. they said if I decided I didnt want it they would give a complete refund of that money. I told them I will wait for the configurator to come out before specifying my order and they said its not a problem since they cannot actually submit the order until December. I'm currently driving a Ford Ranger and it has a massive blind spot when looking over my left shoulder and the MINI's blind spot isnt anywhere near as bad.

As far as ordering blindly, I've been reading a good bit about the second generation hardtops and the new verts will contain almost the exact same options, just bundled a little differently. But as I said, they said I would get a full refund if I decided not to get the car so there isnt much risk involved. Especially with the numbers they're selling in the US.

I did not have to put any money down to preorder. I just called my dealer and asked if my # 4 spot I can order the JCW Cabrio, he is getting back to me

Well, I'm severly missing the convertible. I got a AB/B JCW hard top a couple months ago...

So, I went back and I'm #1 slot for a JCW convertible. WOOT!

Looks like there are some sneak peeks of the '09 convert out there. Pretty cool. An odometer that logs miles with the top down!

Mini is not taking orders for any more 2008 models, so the 2009 should start up soon.

Sorry, I hadn't seen this thread and your question.

According to them and details at this point are fuzzy, but they think that the JCW cars will be available from the get go. Jan order -- March-ish delivery. Since it's debuting at the Detroit Autoshow, I figure order should be mid-January.

Something I just noticed for any former 'vert owners...the wheels on this one are updated from 5 spoke bullets on the older cars. I had those on my 06 convt and loved them- I hope they fit the JCW cars!

Herei s the latest I heard, the configurator will either be there just before Oxford closes for 4 weeks or right when they return. Upon the return supposidly they will start building pre specs and\or our orders if we can get them in while Oxford shuts down for Dec.

Now that I have said this it may be all wrong. But its a good way to kill time.

I'm #1 on my dealer's list. I put my deposit down in 2007, though.

Deposit in '07?!!!

Wow, that's when money was really money! Just got an email from my dealer saying the converts would be for sale march 28. Don't know whether that means you can build/order them before that. I am assuming that's the case. But you know what happens when you assume.

Got your production number?

No way! Where do you live? Does this mean you built the car? Or you'll take whatever they give you?
