My Manual MC

Finally picked up my manual mc last week. Absolutely love it. My spec is:

MC
6 Spd Manual
DSC
BRG w/white roof, stripes
Hi-Fi upgrade
Oak Dash (secret compartment works, no rattles)
Black leatherette sport seats
MFSW (This time i got it!!)
Fog Lights
Center arm rest
All season 15"

I really love the car and it has exceeded my expectations. My past experiences with a mini have been driving friends of mine. a 03 JCW, and a 05 and 06 MCSa. I loved those cars as well. (Don't want to start another 53 vs 56 thread) There is a definite attraction to the R50/R53 that for an enthusiast I completely understand.

But for my tastes the upgraded 07 MC fit the bill and I ordered. It is a daily driver that I will occasionally take on long trips, so the extra refinement is really appreciated. The engine smooth and responsive. I never drove a R50 MC, but always heard you had to really work the gears, seems the flatter torque curve in the R56 MC has helped that alot. The car is responsive even at fairly low RPM. The car shifts really nice as well.

The interior is great. yea the center stack is a little counter intuitive, but given the trade off of more foot room a redesigned slimmer center stack vs the old design, I'll take the foot room. (I noticed driving my friends 03 JCW footroom for me was a problem shifting gears.

The 10 speaker hi-fi is really nice, for my music it seems great (classic rock/60s/70 hits).

Gas usage is fantastic. 2 weeks, 290 miles and still running on the dealer obligatory fill up with 6 bars remaining. (I know the gauge is non-linear, but geez..) I'll fill up today just to see how non linear it is and what real mileage I'm getting (OBC says 39.8)

As I said I really like all mini's and I do not want to start a first gen vs second gen thread, particulary comparison of R53 vs R56 MCS. I have no experience in that argument so I won't go there. For me it boiled down to wanting an economical small car that was fun and sporty to drive, but refined as well. When the redesigned 07 came out it really fit the bill and I must say greatly exceeded my expectations.

So glad you are enjoying the new MINI!!! I got to test drive a 6-speed at the dealer the other day and it was great....that extra low-end torque really helps. Very excited about the fuel economy, too.

Congratulations on finally getting your MC. Now aren't you glad you got the 6 speed instead of the automatic?

Congrats on your BRG/WHT MC! Funny that if I ever order myself a daily driver MC I would get the exact same spec as yours!
I LOVEEEEEEEEEE the BRG/WHT/stripes combo... VERY VERY VERY Classy and sporty! My gf doesn't like it tho... boo~
and the Hi-Fi is just great~ *thumbs up*

Jeez, almost 40mpg via the OBC? My MCS says about 27 on my first tank. I must be a leadfoot!

Thanks

Thanks to all. I filled up today to check the on board computer. it said 39.8, actual based on miles/gallons was 38.2. Not bad for 315 miles, first tank. Gas gauge not very linear though. Said I only used four bars, but based on amount of gas put in should have probably said 4 bars remaining. One hint, a better way to judge true gas remaining would be to look at miles travelled vs, estimated miles to next fill up, that was about right. I was amazed at mpg for first tank, but I'm driving pretty conservatively during break-in. In fact I always do.

Gokartride - yes the improved low end torque is really nice. Can't wait for you to get that OB, I almost switched to it.

MiniC - yes I am glad i got the 6 speed stick. I originally ordered auto back in nov, but when mfsw problem hit and I had to reorder I waited a few extra weeks for manual availability before reordering. Best move I made, thanks Mini!!

Skuzzy, hope it comes soon. Keep the faith.

Naruto16- I'll post some pics soon, show her those. You can go to mini of Nashville, they have an MC auto, same color, without MFSW!! Show her that one.

I got to drive up the mountain today. Nice twisty back road . First time I really got to gauge the handling. All I can say is WOW!! Even with standard suspension, WOW!!

PICS will come soon.
