So I know DSC comes with the sport package on the Cooper S that I ordered, but is it also going to come with ASC? Or does DSC replace ASC?

I guess what I'm really asking is what is the difference between DSC and ASC?

This is an oldie but, I think, still a goodie for explaining this:

http://www.bmwworld.com/technology/dsc.htm

Hope it helps

I don't know if this is true with the Hill Assist or not, but one thing that I've always found confusing in the past is the fact the manuals for BMWs seem to have the info on the Euro models in them which may or may not apply to the US spec cars - has lead to some misunderstandings in the past..

Hill assist ONLY comes with DSC.

If you do not have DSC then you do not have hill assist.

This feature was a very pleasant surprise. Sometimes I let the car roll back just for fun....

Thanks for the link. So I guess my Mini will have DSC and ASC? Cool, I guess.

aeroguy,
I was just using logic, no real authoriative source. ;-) I didn't know the ASC used brakes to work. BUT, it says it uses the FRONT brakes. The car is front wheel drive, it would not make sense to brake the same time the powe is applied to, for hill assist, that would be counter productive.

Just my two cents: I have at least 4-6 stops on my trip home each day that have hills. I LOVE this feature! Scared me at first when I thought there was something wrong, but it works REALLY well now that I am used to it!
If you have to have the sport package to have this, but the sports package for this alone!

Later!

DSC/MC, nothing else. Works great. Doesn't seem to last for 2 seconds though. More like 1 second for me.
