Does this mean my car will already be broken in?

Lets all guess a day that the first maersk wave MINI will clear the VDC and the winner gets a gold star.

my guess is it will be on mayday http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_day

gimme my mini!

i was on the MAERSK WAVE as well. OL hasnt updated to show that it is in the VDC, however i spoke with my MA earlier today and he informed me that it was offloaded yesterday and is making its way through the VDC as we speak!

he said the turn around could be as short as one day and up to one week. he also said that this period is a blind spot for them as they are not able to track the progress while at the VDC. he will not have any further info until it is released for truck transport.

luckly, i am in SoCal and my transport will not be more than one day! whew, i couldn't take much more of this waiting....:impatient

Yes I ordered through Irvine as well. Who was your MA? I originally didn't have the best service there but it got better, and its the closest to my house.

My MA is Lazandro. He's super cool. I actually live in LA, but the Mini dealer in studio city was horrible

My family lives down in Irvine and I went there on a whim. Lazandro was so helpful and so full of knowledge, I made my order on the spot

It was a great relief and i was happy to make the purchase with someone who seemed to actually care!

So my Mini is set to come in within the next week or so. How bout yours? Who was your MA, and what went wrong initially? And did they make good in the end? I'd like to know another Mini owners experience with Irvine Mini. Please fill me in. Thanks!

Yeah, it'll be broken in alright. I think we all get gold stars for surviving this wait!

Let's hope your MA is right. We've got an even longer wait up north. I want to start talking about HAVING a MINI instead of talking about them.

Haha good point evergreen. I hope Lazandro is right too. Ironically sage the thing that went wrong is that I went in to the dealership to look and talk to an MA. Lazandro was the only one in the dealership and it took him 45 minutes to say anything to me. He wasnt doing anything, he looked at me, but he must have just written me off as some kid that couldnt afford it. I worked in sales and so i didnt appreciate or respect that. I went back and Alex was great. she jumped up from her desk when I walked in smiled and just said hi. No pressure right away, a good sales attitude, and i negotiated the markup off so i was in. I have heard some bad things about Irvines service department so I guess we will see, but i spend alot of time there and have gotten to know most of the staff and was actually offered a job. I am sure everything will be ok

familairstranger, i think its great you were able to negotiate the mark up off. it too was one of the biggest reasons i chose Irvine. Out here in LA, they were charging a 3k markup, even if you ordered online!

have they given you any info on when your Mini might arrive?

Great news! The OL has updated! It is recognizing our coop is at the VDC and has listed a delivery date of May 2nd. If that's accurate, then we are blown away by the speed of the progress. Very nice, thank you VDC!

thanks evergreen,
my 'estimated date of delivery' is 5-3. i spoke to my MA. he states that these estimated date of delievery' are not accurate but the "release date" is what he needs. as soon as he gets this, he expects my car to be delivered in 1-2 days. for those of you who can't find it, you have to look under the 'Review Order Detail' in the Owners Lounge.

It depends on a lot of things. Where in line it is coming off the ship. Wherether there are any issues that come up in the inspection at the VDC. And how soon a truck is scheduled to take it wherever it's headed.

When mine arrived earlier this month, there were cars being unloaded in Tacoma three or four days before mine arrived in Portland. Last time I checked, Portland comes before Tacoma on I-5, but for whatever reason the truck heading there pulled out first. Just the way it is.

Give it six months and you'll hardly remember that someone got their new car a few days before you.

thanks sowellman!

i appreciate the words of wisdom. its is a bit odd because mine and familiarstangers are going to the same place. i just hope nothing happened to my Mini (as in damage) that requires repair. i am going to ask my MA to disclose any repairs or damage if any took place.

beyond that, i have no problem waiting an extra few days. i was told 8-10 weeks, and it in fact will be the 9th week when i take possession. so i really have no room to complain (so long as it comes in exactly to spec!!!)

i've learned to be very zen during this waiting period. i have a few extra days left in me, but not much more than that!

Again, it could just be a matter of scheduling the truck to get it there. My dealer received 20 cars off the same ship. So I imagine not all of those came in on one truck. And that might explain why mine didn't get there earlier. Maybe it was the last truck they had come up there off that grouping.

Good luck. You'll be driving your car soon and all of your anxiety will go out the window.

Home Stretch

It looks like you guys in California will be motoring sooner rather than later. We still have another weekend to get through, but our MA says perhaps Tuesday or Wednesday next week!
