Has anyone changed these out on an R56 yet? Any different than the ones on an R53? This is for the non-power folding type.

Is there any documentation/how to guides? I'd like to change my black covers to checkered.

 

turn the mirror all the one direction and reach in with a thin screwdriver and gently pry up the 2 tabs on the bottom (you can barely see them when the mirror is cranked over...and while pulling on the shell from the back, relase the other two tabs (2 up top and 2 below in between the mirror and the trim/surround)...

I've read on MINI2 that it's easy to break one of the tab when taking off the mirror caps. So..be extra careful.

 

My MA said the same thing, but if you are replacing the stock caps with new, what does it matter?

 

I'm curious if these are the same as the ones on the R53?

 

nope, the mirror caps on the R56 are a different shape and slightly bigger than the R53
