Things that already come standard in Canada:
DSC, Xenon, Auto lights/washers, Auto-dimming mirror, Fog lamp (i think), MFSW (yeah, standard up here!)

Things that I MUST have:
LSD, Brushed Aluminum Interior Trim, Premium (sunroof, heated seats, computer)

Things I'm not sure about: Sport package (suspension, 17", anthracite)
I'm not sure if it's worth getting the suspension, or just buying aftermarket suspension and wheels.

Things I really REALLY want: Comfort Access, HiFi... But are either a waste.

Things I'll probably order spur of the moment: Climate Control, Front Window Defroster

Why wouldn't you get a MCS instead of spending all that money on the extra stuff?

Just ordered my MCS with:
Premium pacakge-gots to have the moonroof and cruise is nice for the exciting expressway trips I take periodically...could take or leave the auto a/c.
Sport pacakge w/crown spokes (may delete and do aftermarket wheels but I will definitely do the Xenon).
Sport suspension and LSD.
Checkered cloth.
BRG with black stripes and roof for now, though I still am having second thoughts about astro black.
$26,100 as it stands now.

I think cofort access would be swell but I'm already pushing my budget a bit.

Actually, that's a pretty good question. I honestly didn't think much about an "S". But I just built one with the interior I wanted and the auto trans for just slightly over budget. Hmmm, I'll have to give this more thought.

Exactly...I'm trying to keep the price down under $26k. So is everyone paying MSRP? Every new car I've ever purchased has always been some dollar amount over invoice. Last car was $100 over invoice. Is that impossible with the MINI?

Pretty much. You could always join the military and move to Germany though. That would get you a $1600 discount off MSRP!

My Cooper will have:
Oxygen Blue/W paint
5-speed
Sport seats/cloth
English Oak dash/trim
English Oak Steering wheel
Front and rear fogs
DSC (probably)
Alarm
Clear bra

That's it...aside from floor mats, glove-box organizer and little stuff like that. An under $21K MINI...my dream car.

i think 30k+ is fine for a MINI. the difference between 25-26k and 30k is not that much, and my wife loves it and thats what matters. plus, we had to spend 30k+ to get all the options we wanted. i did not want to ask her to compromise.

besides, i dont really see anything that we could have taken off to make it cheaper. the only thing is the park control, but thats only $350. i wanted her to have the bluetooth, but by itself was $600, and the convenience package is pretty convenient for only $800 more.

I kept mine relatively simple.

Cooper S
Sports Package (for the rims and bonnets and other goodies)
Cold Weather (cause i wanted heated seats)
HiFi
Rear fog (fill out the switches)

Leased for 350/month (retail price was $24,650)

At first dealer wanted to charge me 450 a month!!! i shopped around and got the best price from Manhattan Mini and my dealer (prestige) met it.

MINI has some very slick slippery slopes set up. One or two things you need then there is a package deal with another thing in it for just a few hundred bucks more. And another package for little more... and so on. I could order everything before I know it.

Good luck. MSRP is a good deal compared to what some have to pay on the west coast. I just laughed at my MA when he told me that I would have to pay another $85 for rubber floormats on my 26k (MSRP) vehicle. Of course, after I finished laughing I told him to put them on the list as well.

Yeah, that's why I asked. I don't want to go into the dealership and start arguing with the salesperson. Although I love doing that .

Does anyone know what the last month would typically be to order an '07? I don't want to wait too long and they say "oh...you can't order an '07 now, you'll have to order an '08"
