Basically what Ask Mini is saying is that people who ordered the MCS early on do not get a jack and are not going to get one without buying it, but people who ordered a bit later do get the jack included. Doesn't seem fair or very good customer relations. My 2007 MCS is enroute now, and I plan to take this issue up with my dealer if the jack is missing.

I don't have one, but what I remember is the turbo unit in the MCS makes them put the battery in the boot so there's no room for a spare, thus runflats, thus no jack. So the MC may have a spare.

Anyone have a photo of the jack? Is it superior to a generic jack, if one has to purchase it?

It's a generic jack.

This only afftects the first few months of 07 S model MINIs.

The initial few had jacks then no more. All minis built after 3/1/07 will have them.

discussed many times on this board.

Looks like MINI Customer service officially SUCKS:

Hi,

Thanks for writing MINI. I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment with your new MINI and MINI of Mountain View.

Please accept my apologies for the frustration and disappointment the problems with the multi-function steering wheel and your dash caused. MINI strives to provide excellent customer service, and I am sorry that we fell short of your expectations.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned in my previous e-mail, the jack, lug wrench, and folding chock, are not standard in your Cooper S. While we have since made a production change and these items are now included, they were not standard items for your MINI. MINI reserves the right to change, release, or hinder the release of a product for any number of reasons, i.e. marketing purposes, product development still underway, etc. at any time. Again, I do apologize for any disappointment this causes.

If there are further questions I can assist with, please feel free to drop me an e-mail. I will be happy to lend a hand.

LET’S MOTOR.

I mean cmon.. how much would they have to spend to satisfy me? 100 bucks maybe at the most. Terrible customer service. I guess the moral of the story is not to expect good customer service if you buy a mini.

The R56 MCS with run-flat tires, basic tool kit includes a wrench, adjustable screw driver, tow hook, and "s' shaped tool if you have the sunroof. IF THE DEALER ORDERED THE VEHICLE WITH ITEM DESCRIPTION "5DD" the tool kit will include a Car jack and wrench at N/C.

This is clearly shown on the Dealers' Vehicle Ordering and Inquiry Report system as of 3/15/07.

Any respectable dealer should provide the Car jack and wrench at N/C.

My dealer provided a, "we owe" slip stating that I would be getting the jack and tool kit as soon as they get it. My MA made that comment before I brought it up, thus I suspect MINI has a bulletin out that states that we'll get these.

Lack O' Jack.....

I too recieved my MCS without a jack(built 1/26, picked up 3/15) No big deal, I usually replace the cheap OEM jacks/lug wrenches anyway. The lug wrench I use is a 1/2" breaker bar with the correct DEEP socket(17mm)and this time I am going with the Electric scissor jack from Garrett Wade Tools. Here is the link for those interested.

Also didn't get a jack yesterday when I got my 07 MCS

I am asking dealer to supply it and get with Mini ASM to get reimbersed

I am also being honest and letting them know they wont get 5/5 on the survey if I dont get one

I'd better get off this thread. This is a true sore point with me. I get angry. My MA gave me a WE OWE certificate when I picked up my car that included the jack, the safety reflective triangle, and the first aid kit. The dealership now tells me they don't owe me anything (I'm used to people keeping their word). My letter to MINI yielded the same answer noted above.

Furthermore, I paid $550 for my multifunction leather clad steering wheel. I brought up the fact that the configurator has these priced now at $350 (The price change occurred when it was decided to make the leather 3 spoke steering wheel standard). My MA says that the extra $200 is for cruise control (multi-function steering wheel $350 + Cruise control $200). Is this what you folks are paying?

The car though is great, especially for driving those nearby Sandia Peak twisties.

I just checked my vehicle inquiry report and it mentions "5DD - Car jack and wrench" as a no charge option.

Speaking of options, my report also lists "842 - Cold climate version" as a no charge option. Does that mean I get the cold weather package for free??
